Animation Futurama Thread

I actually thought Benders Game was the best of the movies so far.

BG was better than BWABB, but no where near as good BBS, but maybe that's just because I never had any interest in Dungeons and Dragons.

But Beast with a Billion Backs has David Cross in it, so that should make up for something, you know having Tobias in it.

I didn't realize so few people liked Beast with a Billion Backs. That's probably my second favorite one.

Bender's Game felt like it should've been two entirely different half-hour episodes: one about Mom's dark matter farm, and another about Bender playing D&D. They way they all came together was forced, and the ending was just blah. Toward the end, the Lord of the Rings references stopped being jokes and just became bland movie references.

Also, Bender's Game didn't have that "epic" feeling the last two had. They managed to squeeze practically every supporting character into each of the previous movies, but this one basically just had Planet Express and Mom+flunky sons.

I did laugh uncontrollably when George Takei told Scott Bakula "way to kill the franchise," though.

I was disappointed with Bender's Game. Manic summed up my thoughts perfectly.

I just saw the last Nibbler-centric episode on Comedy Central. It was the one where the Nibblonians sent fry to destroy the Giant Brains' Infosphere, and Fry found out Nibbler was the one who pushed over his chair in the very first episode.

When Fry was talking to past-Nibbler, Nibble implied that Leela was "The Other," and that Fry was going to be essential in saving the universe again.

My point is that I want pay-off, Groening!

Manic.... Into the Wild Green Yonder.

There's your pay-off.

Seriously. I liked Bender's Game...

It wasn't bad. It just wasn't that great. It felt like it should be, as I believe Manic said, two seperate episodes instead of one movie. I think it will work better on Comedy Central in episode format, because the plot just didn't seem as connected or as tight as BWTBB or BBS.

The whole thing with Fry falling in love with the planet freaked me out in BWABB.

I gotta ask, why exactly aren't Fry and Leela together yet? It's pretty obvious that Fry has been trying to get together with her since the first season, and the only resistance has come from Leela.

Then she was subjected to a mysterious marriage to Fry during a time-skip, meeting a version of herself from a parallel universe who's happily married to Fry after deciding to go on a date with him, and falling for him while his system was infected with worms. When the TV series ended with Leela falling for Fry as a concert holophonist, I thought Bender's Big Score would establish them as a couple. But nothing had happened. Then Leela fell in love with Lars, who turned out to be Fry. Were they finally a couple during Beast with a Billion Backs? Nope. The most we saw was Leela feeling a little jealous when Fry was dating Colleen. Then Bender's Game comes around, and neither Fry nor Leela are showing any interest.

In a way, it's worse than typical "will they/won't they" cliches found in other TV shows. They're put together, only for it to be ignored the next time we see them.

Show = AWESOME

Movies = drowning in mediocrity

anyone see the new film Green Yonder, I think it's called... it's excellent, especially after a slow build up. I loved the quirkiness of it all and it ends on a kick ass note, I really hope they continue with the series!

I saw it i still think Benders Big score is the best one, nice loop/cross over with the first episode

Personally, for me it goes

BWABB
BBS
BG

I've seen the new one, but I wasn't actually paying attention to it. SO I need to watch it again.

I loved Benders Game. In fact, the only film I've been annoyed with in any way whatsoever was BBS, mainly because it seemed like everyone ever popped in to do their gimmick. And that's not what Futurama is about. That's Family Guy level there.

How so many people can have hate for BWABB is confusing to me. "they're not tentacles... they're gentacles!"

*has warm feeling at irreverent sillyness*

Usually I LOL while watching Futurama. I love it. Unfortunately I found Into the Wild Green Yonder extremely boring. I rarely laughed and in fact because very bored several times and had to stop it and go do something else to entertain myself.

How it ended was interesting though..

Bender's Big Score is still my favorite of the movies.

This one was hardly the "sci-fi epic," that we were promised...but it was good. It was incredibly rewarding to finally see Fry and Leela get together and finally hear Leela tell Fry she loves him.

Still, it didn't really feel like a conclusion to the series. If anything it was a cliff hanger.

Something tells me we haven't seen the last of the Planet Express crew.

Something tells me we haven't seen the last of the Planet Express crew.
Billy West apparrently thinks that Fox is going to start a 6th season of Futurama.

Seeing as the last movie is out... who else is going to go for the Futurama Day-ish Marathon? (32.27 hours to be exact-ish)

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=56176

Also, as a side note. Matt Groening has apparently been inspired by the new STAR TREK movie and wises to revitalize it in a similar way (not a reboot). So I got thinking...

The last scene of the last episode/movie involves the Planet Express crew jumping into a black hole. You can see where I am going with this. So what if the new episode on Comedy Central opens with lots of pomp and fanfare (as it should) and involves a The Narada attacking the Planet Express ship as it comes out and being saved by the newEnterprise and her newCrew

Not only would it be totally put of left field and hilarious. It would offer an interesting subplot involving Fry not being able to accept the change

Fry = TOS purist... I can imagine the jokes

Fry: Your not Kirk, he's.... fat... and bald... and your a pretty boy *frowns*

Not to mention Leela would probably fall for him instantly
