Animation Futurama Thread

I honestly hope so. We don't need some quick retcon to go back to Fry being sad and single again. You know, some nightmare scenario where the Professor was shot, and the only way to save him would be for Fry to trade his relationship with Leela, and anyone remembering it, to the Robot Devil.

No one would ever conceive, approve and write a story that lame and disrespectful of their fans.. right?

Hmm, kind of tempted to seek those out, but I think I'll just wait and watch them on Comedy Central

Fair enough, there's not long to wait now anyways.

Without being spoilerific I'm just gonna say that the first episode was mildly disappointing purely because it took a long time to pick up and it occasionally felt a little forced, thankfully it does pick up in the third act with a genuinely surprising twist. The second episode is a real improvement on the first with a lot more laugh out loud moments. I think the shakey start is just because the cast and crew are getting back into the swing of things and by the end of the season Futurama will be as good as ever.

Just watched he first of the new episodes and I wasn't that good. Nothing felt natural really. Like even the most random episodes had a natural flowlingness to them, you know? But that one didn't...

Anyhow, it's like the only episode thats ever disapointed me apart from the movies so I can forgive it.

It'll probably take a little while for the show to get back in the swing of things. I certainly think the movies got much better as they went along.

I liked all of the movies except Bender's Game. I thought that one should've been 2 different regular episodes.

I think the 2 new episodes are cool. They brought Futurama back, everythings fine right now. Will the show go the route of the Simpsons? Who knows? Who cares? Just enjoy it for as long as it lasts. Right now there´s no reason to expect anything bad from the new episodes.
But I can see that some people is expecting it to suck so hard that they are going to hate it anyway. It´s not like Futurama was absolutely perfect before getting canceled. I loved it, but i enjoyed some episodes more than others. It happens to ALL tv shows.

I tend to ignore the people who say stuff like "It won't be funny when it comes back, like Family Guy" for one very key reason: I think Family Guy is about as funny now as it was during its first few seasons. Animation aside, I don't see a big difference in quality when I watch reruns.

"An irreversable coma!" :funny:

I'm enjoying it so far, but its really only been lip service to the hardcore fans so far, so I would.

Mmmm, kind of a cop-out with the Fry/Leela relationship. Could be better, could be worse.

UPDATE: Or was it? I can't even tell.

She just kissed him on the second episode. It seems like they're still together.

First episode was funny. I could see how it word turn off just a casual watcher, but as a hardcore fan who has seen every episode multiple times, I loved it. Though I will say it was more confusing than Bender's Big Score. But they were clever enough about it that it worked.

She kissed him early in the episode but then she had sex with Zap right in front of Fry, granted there was coercion, but still. Are they together or not!?!

Still, great return

I thought they were average for the most part. Still a good amount of funny parts.

Like them both fairly well. Both shocked with me with the [blackout]robot twist[/blackout] in the first and the whole [blackout]Zap and Leela having sex[/blackout]. Not sure what to make of the latter especially O_0

Had a fair amount of laughs from both, especially Zap in the second (I always get a chuckle of him, but I was laughing at his dream sequences and string upon string of lies).

Overall, I felt they were pretty good.

Aside from Brannigan Begin Again, I think it was the best Zap-centric episode yet.

War is the H-Word was better. I loved how he had a homoerotic attraction to "Lee Lemon" and was relieved when he found out it was Leela.

Agreed

They've had sex before, so it didn't bother me.

True, but now her and Fry are a couple and such, and Fry was standing right there. I mean, yeah, the circumstances and all, but for that reason it felt really bizarre

That episode also gave us one of the best bits from the entire series. I don't even think I have to say what it is.

For the record I did NOT like In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela, it almost felt like it was parodying itself. Not to mention the last scene was one of the most cringe-worthy and disturbing sequences ever

The episode should have been about censorship as a whole not this Adam/Eve nonsense. Not to mention I'm surprised Fry didn't mind when Leela of all people PUSHES Zapp into having sex with her. EWWW!

Rebirth was better. Very Blade Runner/Fifth Element/Mass Effect 2. However I can't believe they missed an opportunity to do a Star Trek 2009 joke with them coming out of the wormhole

Farnsworth: SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS! THE REBOOT UNIVERSE!

Maybe they are saving it for later with someone making a movie of the Planet Express crew and making it exaggeratedly cool!

I felt awkward watching "Rebirth", it may have been the voice acting, it felt a bit off, and the the whole rebirth machine was very deus ex machina, but the episode was pretty good.

I enjoyed "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" more. It felt more like a Futurama episode and it was funnier. Overall a good start.
