DC Television FX turning Y: The Last Man to Series

Glad it got picked up. Didn't know that was ever in doubt.

But the whole "this show changed because of the Trump presidency" thing....ugh. why.

How do you think it could be changed? I remember the comic was pretty pro-male.

Haven’t read the comic but heard good things so I’m looking forward to this.

I hope there's the new Gillette commercial about toxic masculinity when this comes out. :sly:

Am I being paranoid to think there are a pair of Mickey Mouse ears perched atop this decision?

Not paranoid. But there's a full story we're not being told here.

Very odd.

I don't think Disney had anything to do with it. Mainly because why would they? How do they benefit by not putting out Y The Last Man? It's not like it was on ABC. Not like it was on FOX. It was FX.

FX's 'Y: The Last Man' Series Parting Ways With Showrunners
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the project is still a go at the network, with the same cast in place, but the hunt is now on to replace the duo who had shepherded the development and piloting of the series now just being dubbed Y. Sources say that the exit came after creative differences with the network over the course of the show.

I was ready to be all...

Can I be honest? I don’t feel like this will be the authentic y the last man experience. This feels like “oh we have this property we better do something with it”. I feel (and hope) Y the last man might be done justice a few years, maybe decades, down the track

It's been out for nearly two decades. When will ever there be a good time then? I've wanted this show since 2010. This had all the right things to make it into something great.

How involved is Brian K. Vaughan in the show? At all?

I wonder if he has anything to do with the constant troubles this show has. Not liking directions, show runner visions, etc.

Does anybody even care about this project anymore?

I read Anders' book, All the Birds in the Sky a while back. I thought the book was pretty ****ty, despite all the praise it got.

I really wish I could get excited for Y. But FX has done pretty much everything to ruin its momentum.

All I can say is, if Georgie from Dunkirk is the last man, then the male species is screwed.

Long live the matriarchy.

Haha well good for him. He’s got to pay his bills too.

He must have a great agent

Wow that monkey is still alive? How long do monkeys live on average?

*Edit: just read the article and it said monkeys can live into their 40s. Didn’t know that!

Apparently in captivity they can go even beyond 40. The article says this monkey is at her late 20s.

‘Y’: FX Drama In Pre-Production Following Showrunner Change – Deadline

FX has given a status update of its adaptation of DC Comics’ Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, said that the project is in pre-production. “We’ve seen five, six scripts,” he said. “We haven’t scheduled it because it hasn’t gone into production. We changed showrunners and did a big reboot on it, but that seems to be going well.”
