G.I Joe 2 moved to March 2013 - film conversion to 3D

If they are shooting new scenes than we know this is about more than just a 3D conversion.

If they are doing this for Channing Tatum. Then I demand they release the non Channing Tatum version on DVD & Blu-Ray as well

If Tatum gets shoehorned back in my interest in this movie will drop to exactly zero. Killing him off was one of the main things that peaked my interest in this movie from the get-go.

I don't know that my interest will go to absolute zero (it will still have Rock & Willis in it... at least it better...and I might be able to tolerate Channing with them in the film), but my interest will drop considerably

I think they'll add red and blue lasers.

3D could've helped Battleship. And it's kinda surprising it wasn't released that way. Paramount and Hasbro will want to not make that mistake as well as improve the film as they see fit.

This is absolutely bollocks. I was actually looking forward to this and I didn't really like the first one. Now I hope that someone will put the entire Movie online, like they did with Wolverine Origins. Waiting 9 frikking months for a finished Movie. Screw you paramount! :argh:

Haven't they heard of the adage, "less is more?" If Tatum has increased in popularity, having him in kind of a bit part would actually come off cooler than shoving him into the flick even more.

I want to see them cut out The Rock from V2. Since they love Channing Tatum so much. He can lead this movie & they say screw The Rock

Maybe Cobra Commander orders him to be taken instead of killed right away. Then, they find out he's alive and save him at the end.

I honestly don't see the hate for The Rock. He has charisma, he can carry an action film, and everyone who's met him say that he's one of the nicest actors they've met.

I just hope they don't expand Channing Tatum's role too much. I'd rather see more actors from the first return, like Sienna Miller.

That was more against Channing Tatum then The Rock. I am a fan of The Rock. But clearly Paramount does not think it is enough to have The Rock lead this movie. Channing Tatum is getting the blame & hate for this one

Freaking Bruce Willis is in it. Shouldn't that be enough? Bruce Willis, the Rock and Ninjas. Who cares about Tatum at this point?

They should also add Taylor Kitsch in this movie. While they are at it. He will be the real turning point for Paramount this time

If test screenings really asked audiences about Tatums role in the film, and thats the reason why they are delaying and not he 3D, then it must have been a significant portion of the audience wanting a larger role for Duke for them to go back and shoot.

Maybe the flick screened bad in general. Could be for the better.

If all of this is to get Tatum more screen time, then I can only compare this to the parents of a ******ed kid who manages to get to the toilet after always crapping his pants praising him incessantly for this minor accomplishment. Yes, he was funny in Jump Street. But Magic Mike is from a director who is known for unconventional leads and getting good performances from actors who usually aren't very good (J-Lo, for one). This doesn't signal a turning point in his acting ability. Soderbergh cast a porn star and an MMA fighter as leads in movies, after all. That and Soderbergh's movies aren't always box office hits. It seems like just as Tatum's lack of acting ability was catching up with him, he gets one hit and one movie with some buzz behind it and suddenly he gets more material to coast on to try to milk Hollywood for all its worth.

Lmfao wtf

I'm talking about how after being given endless chances to headline a movie and not getting any better, he shows a little sign of improvement and suddenly he gets all the heat back overnight he had almost used up.

no i agree it's just...the imagery

Same here. If they cut his death scene and give him more scenes in Retaliation, I'm not sure I'd be interested seeing this movie next Spring.

Btw, no matter what they do, the movie could very well still come out a turd, and people will be laughing at Paramount for pushing it back by 9 months and the movie got worse instead of better by the delay.

It's not even my hate-on for Channing Tatum that would crush my desire to see this, either. While I do think he's one of the worst actors out there, I was most impressed that Paramount actually had the nuts to kill him off and take the franchise in a new and more exciting direction. They were basically kinda saying: "Yeah, we coulda done better, and this time we will. To prove it, we're gonna kill Duke off the bat."

If they were to go back now and force more Tatum into the movie that completely shreds all of the above IMO and takes the movie one step backwards to being as "meh" as the first one, which is why my interest would plummet.

This is terrible as much as I hated Rise Of Cobra I was expecting this one to redeem it but now I have to wait for next year, the toys and comics are out already.

What about the comic adaptation, will that be held back too?

I think there's truth to the Channing Tatum rumors.

If you go to the official GI Joe Movie website, you'll see that Tatum gets top billing now. Not sure that was always the case.

http://www.gijoemovie.com/

In the top right corner, it says "Starring Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson"

That's the reason for the 9-month delay, ladies and gentlemen. Surprised no media outlet has picked up on this yet.

I guess I see why studios think Charming Potato is a draw, but I still don't understand why some moviegoers suddenly warmed up to him just because of one friggin' movie. Even if he was as great in 21 Jump Street as everyone is saying, he needs to do more than one movie to make up for all of the other ones he ruined.

And really, I think they are overestimating his star power. The Vow would have been a hit no matter what because it was typical sappy romance/tragedy porn and it was released around Valentine's Day, meaning that guys all over the world took their dates to see it because they knew it would get them laid and said dates probably went back to see it multiple times with their girlfriends after the aforementioned guys dumped them or cheated on them and thus they needed to believe that SOMEWHERE out there, there is a man who isn't a total *****e sandwich and someday they'll find this guy who just happens to have washboard abs and perfect bone structure and blah blah blah f***ing blah.

As for 21 Jump Street being a hit... I have no idea, other than maybe people wanted to see Fat Jonah Hill one more time before he became Deflated Balloon Jonah Hill. Or maybe it all was because of Tatum, I don't know. I know people liked it, but when I see a trailer for a comedy that doesn't make me laugh ONCE, I'm not going to run out and see it.

I'll be floored if this delay was to add Tatum back into the movie. I can't comprehend how a studio would make a decision like that a month before their movie is supposed to come out; there's just no way, man.

I imagine (and hope) that these apparent "reshoots" are just to spice up the lame 3D effects, so instead of Roadblock pointing his big ass gun to the side he'll point it at the screen for INTENSE 3D ACTION!!! Reshooting stuff like that is considerably smaller; putting a character back in the movie that was otherwise absent from the script would be insanely expensive and require intense reshoots.

This whole thing just makes me facepalm.
