G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra possibly in huge trouble

Far as I'm concerned, the accelerator suits are just a nod to the many "subcategories" of GI JOE. You know, Sigma Six, space warriors and exosuits, various specializations, etc.

I was reading GI Joe vs. Transformers: Omnibus today, and there were mech suits / mechas in it. There were also mechs and mech suits in many other versions of GI Joe, as The Guard mentioned, so I don't get why people are acting like Stephen Sommers is somehow raping GI Joe by having mech suits in the movie. I understand that people might be concerned that the suits will overpower the good ol' shoot outs, but from what we've heard they're not in the movie for long. They account for one of the tentpole action scenes, but they're not the centerpiece of the movie.

I prefer the 80's Marvel comics as my ideal G.I. Joe grounding. Everything else is watered down and kidded up.

The sad thing is that this might be the last hurrah for another Joe movie if this one bombs and from the looks of it might, mixing sci-fi with G.I.Joe never works just remember back to Battle Force 2000 toyline.

G.I. Joe IS sci-fi.

The entire concept is that this elite section of the military has advanced equipment and expert members that are far ahead of what the "normal" sections of the world's military uses.

Sigma 6 were good toys with a TERRIBLE series. The show was awful and it bombed.

So I mean, that's not good news that they are relying on **** like Sigma 6 for the movie.

so we're being selective about source material now?? O I don't like the cartoon so only the comic counts??

I don't really have a whole lot of opinion about the Sigma 6 TV series, but I do think it at least had solid animation and good action scenes, even if it had a distinctly different flavor from the 80's show. Honestly, i haven't seen enough episodes to make a thorough assessment. I absolutely loved the toys that came out of it though, especially for customization.

This is ridiculous. It can't be that bad. Dragonball: Evolution was the worst movie I've seen in the past 10 years, but you didn't hear ANYTHING like this about it.

yeah but that was fox, and everyone knows they don't give a **** about quality

on the subject of quality, i was more of a masters of the universe fan growing up but i knew off transformers and action force(gi joe) and i'm sorry if anyone is expecting the newest epic from what is basically 2 and 1/2 hour toy ads really need to get there heads checked. do we want great movies based on our favorite toy lines, of course we do. but some need to take of the blinkers and re watch the source and realize that a lot of these things are not the masterpieces we picture in our memorys

They're not relying on any one version of GI JOE, and that was probably the smartest way to go. They're basing it on the source material, period. That means you will see elements from the comics, the shows, the original, pre-American Hero GI Joe line, Sigma Six, etc.

exactly....you thought it was so awesome back then because you didn't have any previous thing to compare it to

It's still awesome. It's just not incredibly serious or devoid of flaws.

Hell, look at Transformers 2.....this is basically gonna be a PG-13 version of Bad Boys 2 according to Empire, where Bay is just throwing every ****ing thing he can at us because he has the tenure and backup from his team. That movie was honestly the most nihilistic thing ever put to film. And we loved it.

Whatever. I thought Bad Boys 2 was trash. It didn't do that well, and Will Smith basically derided his performance in it and said he shouldn't have done the movie publically in EW.

This movie like Dragon Ball was rushed into production during the WGA strike, and they used a rushed 7 week script.

No we didn't.

I loved it and Ive been a fan since I was a kid....never got into the comics though

in any case...I don't have high expectations for GI Joe, but I expect it to be mildly entertaining

isnt will smith always doing this? when one of hes movies is not making a lot of money then he says ''sorry'' and that he shouldnt done the movie.

Not really. In an EW power hollywood issue he said he shouldn't have done MIB 2 and Bad Boys 2 and basically publically disowned his work in the movie.

Also, I'm tired of people acting like Michael Bay is this brilliant competent filmmaker now because of their fan ******* over Transformers.

Also in 2003, Bad Boys 2 was a rather significant underperformer/disappointment. So it wasn't like an "everyone loved it except critics" type of thing.
