G Or PG Movies That Would/Should Be Rated Higher

That's why. Boobies are bad. Sex is bad. Violence is good. Male butt is good.

Male nudity is funny, female nudity is sexual.

I guess they were more lenient in the 80s. PG-13 was still relatively new at that point.

For the record, I just watched "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" again and noticed that there's more blood in it than "The Dark Knight".
I think that if the Dark Knight had blood in it, it would have been rated R. That movie pushed the boundaries of a PG-13 movie.

How? Nothing in that movie was even close to R. It was just very mature and dark. But it wasnt even close to an R.

If they added blood to the robbery scene at the begining it would definately be an R

I watched The Dark Knight earlier and even though the violence is basic PG-13 stuff, Two-Face's burned face in it certainly stretched the rating considerably, I think. All those visible muscles and tendons

This thread is a really a good example of how over the last few decades, the world has been continually losing it's balls.

I agree.

The Mummy had worse....

The Mummy didn't have the exposed seared tendons and muscles TDK Two-Face had...

PG- The original Clash of the Titans - ass and boobs.
PG-The Beast Master - Tanya Roberts boobies on full display.

Still had exposed tendons, moving organs inside his body.....it was just as grusome.

I guess you're right. It's just been so long since I last saw the 1999 Mummy movie, and I never even saw it's sequels. Which is kind of odd, as I dug the 1999 one.

On the subject of PG-13 movies deserving of being rated R, having seen Insidious earlier, that movie IMO without a doubt deserves an R rating purely for how intense and frightening it gets. I know plenty of PG or PG-13 that are also intense, but this movie IMO pushes it for it's rating.

I'll go and mention the "PG" Vampire Circus from Hammer. The gore and violence, not to mention kid killing, probably would be sufficient to make it an R today. But, did I mention ample nudity including full frontal? (Very brief, but it's there.)

Yeah, PG movies could get away with decent nudity in the 1980s. Specifically these:

Splash (Daryl Hannah's butt at the Statue of Liberty and several nip slips)
Never Cry Wolf (the lead actor has an extended nude scene where he runs among the wolves -- he shows everything)
Running Brave (teenage boys showering)
Dragonslayer (skinny dipping shot)
Clash of the Titans (the two butt shots plus that breast-feeding scene)
The Invisible Kid (two topless chicks plus two butt shots)

I could go on and on...

Jaws! Jaws is so damned gory. It should at least be made PG-13

Jaws. That shot when Bruce
bites into Quint and that blood he spits out
ruined me when I was a child. PG-13 at least nowadays.

Jaws was the first movie that came to mind when I saw this thread. You have cursing, a kid gets killed, a woman is briefly nude and there is copious amounts of blood. Safe for kids!:awesome: How things have changed.

I love the 70's....

I don't really think it did. The only R-rated scene is the hanging scene...and I think that can certainly pass in a PG-13. I think people are confusing mood and tone for violence. Spider-man 2 overall was more violent or at least equal to the dark knight (The hospital scene alone accounts for this) but nobody is saying that movie was pushing R. :o

That's why it was an awesome decade.

Damn, how did I forget Beetlejuice? PG-13 was even around at that point and the movie was still PG.

Definately that movie scared the **** outa me when i was young, especially when he turns into that snake. Not to mention the scene where he screams nice ****ing model and crabs his junk. gotta love it.
