I just seem to notice a trend of PG movies, specifically movies you'd assume would be PG-13. Marley and Me has been the top movie two weeks in a row, surprising given the handful of higher profile films that were released during the Christmas holiday. Then you've got Bride Wars, which is also PG.

I think it's great, 'cause I see a lot of PG-13 films, and a lot of them don't seem to have that much in the way of content that goes beyond a PG rating.

What's the difference between PG and PG-13? For the outsiders, like me :o

'This Film Is Not Yet Rated' is still something I wanna see.

This short video sums up the American MPAA rating system PERFECTLY :yay:

Heh. I think there's an episode of the cartoon Freekazoid that guest starred Jack Valenti where they do the same little bit.

The f-word, boobs.. blood too? I'd hate to live in a PG universe

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Bride Wars and Marley and Me should technically be PG-13 due to the subject matter from what I've seen in ads and clips, but I guess they're going back to the 80s. A lot of the newbie fanboys tend to dismiss anything that's PG, but I'll see a PG flick in a minute if it's something I wanna check out. Inkheart I am for sure going to see for the f/x alone.

Only reason Marley and Me was number 1 for two week's was nothng else was released. I'm most certain it's not going to be number one. It's either going to be The Unborn or Bride war's in the number one spot.

I have to go see The Unborn tomorrow...it's way too much ****ing snow outside right now to go anyplace.

lol. yeah i know what you mean. I prolly won't see it to atleast monday or so. gotta work tomorrow also.

Some movie should never be rated PG like TMNT and Dragonball

Some movies should never get made, like Dragonball

Filmmakers should just make the movie without thinking the rating, and then just release it with the rating they get. Sadly these days too many movies are made for that and that rating. :/

I respect your posts Rac, but I find this to be really naivie thinking. Film-Making is not like writing a story or painting a picture, its takes MILLIONS of dollars and major commitment. The biggest killer of any movies financial success is not having a core demographic in mind to be pitching it too. So say you're making a light-hearted romp for teenagers and the damn thing turns out to be R because of violence, you're ****ed. Thinking about the rating is very important and I'm sure they were thinking of Dark Knight and I'm sure there thinking about it for Terminator Salvation which I hope is R, but I don't know :(

There were several films, more high profile than Marley And Me released on Christmas day. Valkyrie, Benjamin Button, The Spirit, etc.

We can thank Indy for PG-13.

I think you can only say "F***" once in a PG-13 flick.

For anyone who's seen Marley and Me, it probably pushed the PG limits as far as it could go in terms of content and language. There's PG-13 level innuendo and plenty of swears thrown in.

The MPAA makes violence and sexuality their main priority in making the ratings.

^ but it about a cutie puppy doggie! therefore PG! :cmad:

Titanic had boobs and was pg-13. Truman Show said $#!+ twice and was PG.

Indeed. Only once. I remember first hearing it in AVP like five years ago. I said, "Good Lord, this is a piece of *****, but then she said f**k and I'm like, "Huh?! You can say that in a PG-13?!"

minority report had tommy boy say 'tell me you **** where is he!?' it was bold and added to the tension
