Galactus IS going to show up in this film per Tom Rothman!!!

"Well, he won't not show up."

 Okay.

I guess that still doesn't preclude him being an unseen "presence."

To me, it sounds more like we're going to see him, though.

Tom Rothman gets a bad rap. The dude seems pretty cool.

1) He bragged to fans that AvP was going to be a "hard" R.

2) He actually knew Galactus was and seemed to understand that he needed to be in the movie.

3) He seemed to respect the artistic integrity of "Sunshine"

4) He praised Zach Snyder and seems to appreciate the ambition of 300.

I thought he was completely clueless and somewhat evil from the way the X-men fans bash him.

This is getting to be like "Who's on First" :woot:

Either Ioan was trying not to give out any spoilers about the appearance of Galactus or the scenes involving Galactus will not use any of the actors. They are done shooting with the cast from the last we heard and I suppose they could bring some of them back for reaction shots or something. But it does make one wonder if there will be any interplay at all between any of the FF and Galactus.

We'll see. I'm not entirely certain that he'd know whether or not Galactus will be in the film. Ask him again in May and his answer will probably be more solid.

For some reason the link is dead AD. If he has once again confirmed Galactus this wouldn't be the first he's done so.

This is what Rothman said back in September.

IESB: Yes, Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer, Weta is doing the CGI, Doug Jones doing the motion capture, we want to confirm this, you can’t have the Silver Surfer without Galactus making an appearance at one point or another in the film right?

TR: That’s true.

IESB: Avi has always referred to Galactus as a force of nature.

TR: Yeah.

IESB: Is he going to look like anything like we’ve seen him in the comic books?

TR: Yes, I think that Galactus, look, I don’t want to give away too much, right, but I will say this, Galactus will appear and fans will not be disappointed.

He also said that we'd see Sentinels in X3 didn't he?

How could Ioan NOT know if Galactus was in the film? He's read the script. and if the Ff don't encounter Galactus, he might as well not be in the film.

I couldn't get IESB to load when I was trying to check it for news this morning, did he say much about the issue?

And this is what bothers me, because they said this is going to be a "finite" Surfer story....how do you do that without showing the Surfer rebel and join the FF against Galactus?

Im not opposed to saving the Galactus showdown (and maybe even introducing The Watcher) for a third movie, but they've pretty much said this is it in regards to that storyline (you know, so they can rush out a Surfer film franchise  )...

Not only that he doesn't seem to even know what Galactus looks like.

I couldn't get it to work either. In fact, the whole site is down right now.

Rothman said in that link that Ioan's comments were "innaccurate" and "untrue".

I don't see why the threat of Galactus can't be left looming over the FF for a few installments before they deal directly with him. I mean if he doesn't actually reach Earth in FF2 (which sounds more and more like what we'll not see) then his arrival could be several years away. The Surfer could preceed his master by decades even. We're talking about a god-like being with Galactus; maybe he only feeds every hundred years or so, or perhaps he's working his way through the buffet of planets the Surfer signaled from in the past.

If the Surfer is truly turned against his master in this film, and if Galactus doesn't show up in person yet, then surely we'll see the Surfer head back into space to confront the big G, setting things up for the Surfer movie.

And there's no reason Galactus can't show up to chow down on Earth in an FF movie a few years down the line.

Most importantly, Galactus must be done right.
I'd rather see Galactus alluded to, or shown fleetingly, than see him screwed up entirely.

All i know is Fox better tread real carefully and chose their press releases with some thought. Look what's happening with Ghost Rider; I've not been following that film's production as carefully, but apparently the director, Mark Steven Johnson, alluded to fans that the villain Blackheart would be appearing in his true demonic form, and that didnt happen.

Now fans are turning on that film like a pack of snarling wolves.

We've all seen fan backlash hurt films like Daredevil, Hulk, and Superman Returns, so fan reaction IS important for a good opening weekend.

Maybe not 100% of the time, but at least on occasion. The question being; Is Fox willing to take that risk, considering all the backlash from the FIRST ff film?

I agree, and a 105 minute movie with both Galactus and Doom is a movie that is too full......now a 2:30....ok.....1:45 minute no.....IMO.....A glimpse, is no problem, a full fledged storyline, problem for me anyway....

That he did!! Don't believe a word this guy says! Galactus will probably just appear as a shadowy outline, behind some smoke!:whatever:

I don't think we're gonna see as big a cop-out as the "Sentinel" in X3.
A quick glimpse of Galactus like the Ultimate Alliance clip we've all seen, would be fine provided it's up to snuff.
I'm pretty sure they can manage 5-10 seconds of top notch CGI by June 15th.

I still think it is mostly smoke. Rothmans comments are old news. I think they have done a great job with this film. So much of it is shrouded in mystery, and don't tell. With little bits leaking out here and there. Conflicting information. Will it be Dougs voice or not ? Will Galactus appear or not ? They have in my opinion done a great job, keeping the speculation going, keeping intrest at a high level. Think 4 months away, and we still have no clue, how it will all fall out. They learned from the 1st film, you can not give away the store. :woot:

I agree, and that would be just enough to convince fans of whether or not he would work on the big screen at all. I think it would be a great tease for either an SS spin-off movie with him involved, or a future F4 movie.

but you just stated that it has been shrouded in mystery...honestly all we have seen is the short teaser, thats enough for you?

ok

Yes, there's much more than usual riding on this film: The proposed Surfer franchise, which Fox certainly wants, and the future of the FF franchise.

I think it could be possible that they could follow the story in FF#57-60 where Doom encounters the Silver Surfer. The Surfer would then be detained from his mission to provide an energy source either through the distraction of dealing with Doom or by the FF convincing him that the Earth should not be sacrificed to Galactus' hunger. Galactus could just be a looming "presence" at the end, even though this reverses FF history in the comics.

Ending with Galactus coming to Earth and hovering over New York would be a pretty cool cliffhanger.

ok

As a fan you want to see as much as you can before release, and as a fan, you do not want to see too much. In my opinion wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much was shown, with the 1st one. We even knew the ending. They have what 2 more trailers to be released ? The big one will be released with Spider-Man 3. We know that Doom takes Surfers powers. We know there is a wedding. We know what the Fantasticar looks like. We know what the Thing, and The Surfer looks like. Besides that we know zip. We have not seen a picture of Doom.
