Galactus or No Galactus?

oh so you're color blind too.
there is no pink on Galactus, that's PURPLE.

It took you all these days to reply and you're still wrong:confused:it's pink

Nope, it's purple. The headpiece on that Galactus bust is just a lighter shade of purple; it definitely isn't pink. Besides, the colors of that bust are somewhat revisionist; flipping through a few comics featuring the Big G, so far the headpiece always matches the purple of the rest of the suit.

The first variation of tone on the headpiece that I've found is in the 1978 Lee-Kirby Silver Surfer graphic novel, and it still looks purple to me:

Now this is pretty definitive. A mid-70's FF cover by Jack Kirby.
Anyway, this is color scheme I grew up with. If they're using that two-tone purple nowadays, it's a relatively recent change.

Not to say his colors have always been consistent. But the only radical difference I'm aware of can be found only in the very first panel he appears in, the final panel of FF #48. Dontcha just love the giant "G" on his chest?

In the opening pages of the next issue, Galactus' colors had been changed to their now familiar purple and blue. And except for a period in the early 1970's when his legs were inexplicably bare (I guess G was going for a more relaxed, casual look) the suit has stayed basically the same.

I wouldnt mind Galactus, but its o hard to pull off a purple guy with a tuning fork helmet. Id love to see what that'd look like out of morbid curiosity.

To be honest, the helmet is what MAKES Galactus. It's the most identitifying feature on him.

Marvel has tons of other giant characters, and many others wear armor. But the Galactus helmet is the unique thing that makes people say, "Oh yeah, THAT'S Galactus."

And considering that Galactus is a cosmic being from the far reaches of space, the general audience should be able to accept that he'll look "weird".

But in any case, I won't be seeing FF2 in theaters after they way the butchered Doom's character and gave us a lackluster plot in FF1. I'll wait for this one on DVD.

It can be done right.
I don't perceive Galactus as significantly sillier than a guy dressed as a spider or a bat. Not by much anyway.
And the helmet...the helmet is pretty iconic. It's the most recognizable aspect of Galactus, among both lifelong and casual fans.

The studiosuits are always changing the Marvel properties to "make them more acceptable to a mass audience" and we end up seeing characters beloved for decades like Dr. Doom defiled beyond recognition.

It can be done well. It's more a question of will it be done well.

I didnt say it cant be done, and really im sick of this grounded in reality concept they keep bringing into comic book movies.

Malus the one you posted is certainly purple but the bust is deep Pink IMO

Ive never see him with the blue helmet before:eek:
If they do him as a giant man which i don't think they will the Alex Ross design is the most cinematically viable IMO

No Galactus please...or very limited and brief...maybe in the beginning to send Surfer and at the end to get his snack...cue to FF3...

If Galactus' arrival isn't the final scene/cliffhanger, I'll be very surprised.
No showing him until he arrives, though.
Kinda takes away from the awesome reveal at the end. ;)

So...how could they kill a giant like Galactus in the movie?

The Ultimate Nullifier, and they never have killed him.

This is Hollywood. It's going to have to end with some sort of epic battle.

FOX needs to play this one STRICTLY by the book...screwing around with it will get them in ALOT of trouble...or it'll get Tim Story and cast in a lot of trouble.

I guess I just have a hard time figuring out how they can do an action packed finale with the Nullifer?

The Nullifier is on board Galactus ship, it wont be easy to get it.

Hopefully not as easily as they defeated Not-Doom in FF1.

In the original story, the Watcher sends the Torch into some far-flung dimension in order to reach "the ultimate nullifier," a gun-like thingie that will destroy not only Galactus, but the person firing the weapon and all of creation as well.
Galactus has no choice but to back off. He snarls at the Watcher, "These children live in a tinderbox and you've given them matches to play with!" (or something to that effect.)

Panties firmly wadded, he then strips the Surfer of much of his cosmic power, marooning him on Earth.

For some reason, I doubt they'll do anything like that.

On the printed page, it's more of a deep bluish green.
And yeah, the headpiece in that bust pic looks a helluva lot pinker than any other Big G pic I've seen.

you're insane. that's purple (lighter shade) NOT pink.
it shouldn't surprise me that you can't tell the difference. No wonder you don't want the classic version. no clue about anything:woot: :woot:

anyway I'm just glad there are others here who recognize the genius in Kirby's design.

What do you think of the Ross colour scheme for Galactus ?

I like it. It's basically a just muted version; considerably less garish.
I think it would work.
