Galactus or No Galactus?

I did the pic below long ago for a SHH fan art comp, the idea behing this being a crossover type deal where Galactus's design was deliberately altered to his circumstances, however if we must have a muted design for this film then going for a darker look like this with a few extra 'bells's & whistles', like refined detailing in the armor and lighting here and there thrown in, that might do the trick in appeasing those who feel the original look is too much to be done literally:

For me...I think it's just the whole him floating out there that looks kind of lame.

I agree that his look needs to be changed, but I think they need to keep him as a giant. I mean, he devours planets. It just makes more sense that someone who devours planets would be huge as opposed to human size (please don't bring up the alien horde). Someone of his nature and power needs to be large. The purple costume can go, however.

Okay, I only read about a half page in but I feel compelled to say something. Galactus IS galactus. He needs to be in the movie and they need to use the most updated CGI, as well as the filmmaker's collective creativity to find a way to make it happen. So help me God, if they cheat the story by somehow tying the Surfer's orgin into the cosmic storm that created the FF, I'm going to puke. In fact, now that I have written this, I'll wager money that that is what they will do.

1. Movie starts.
2. 2 years later or so.
3. Surfer comes to earth.
4. Wreaks havoc.
5. FF confront him.
6. We discover that the cosmic storm caused a rift in space/time and opened a worm hole that allowed the surfer to find earth.
7. We get a cheese flash back that shows a 2 second shot of Galactus.
8. Doom comes back.
9. FF & Surfer fight Doom.

I may be way off but somehow they are going to cheapen the SS and Galactus. I know it.

I am keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping for the best at this point. When we get actual news on him, now that is when I'll get upset or happy.

Id rather see Galaticus in another sequel than have him crammed into the film

They Should Finish Off Doom .. Hes To Big Of A Character To Have An Extra Villain

In the comics, GALACTUS is sort of like a mob boss/kingpin of the universe - a character one fears, but just shows up briefly. They don't need to save him for another sequel. Put him in this one. Even in the comics, he's always having cameos - he pops up when really needed, kicks ass, then leaves. Galactus is all about quality, not quantity. There is no need to see him for the majority of the film.

I'll bet that Dr. Doom is going to be the one that reveals the origin story to Surfer which the audience will see visually - maybe that will be the only time we see Galactus. Once Surfer finds out the truth, he'll kick Dr. Doom's ass and then go after Galactus in the sequel or separate Silver Surfer movie. It's very hollywood for the bad guy to have the hero attached to some chair he can't get out of, so that the villain can do his revealing the truth bit, and then the hero somehow escapes his chair he's tied up in to whoop some ass...it would be typical of hollywood too that it's Doom that finds out all the info somehow.

I think that Galactus should lood Creepy. Like that computer baby in the Matrix revolutions. Galactus should not look huminoid. He should be a biospheer energy monster.

I also think the tone of the FF2 should be closer the Matrix, where your not quite sure if they will make it.

Goodspeed

I think Galactus should be done as it was in the Ultimate Universe on the comics, not as a big cheesy giant who devours worlds but as a group-mind of robotic drones or something like that that drops seeds that suck the life out of the planet. Anyways, I just hope they give us a glimpse of Galactus at the end of the movie

If Galactus does not appear and does not look like the real thing, then I have no interest at all in seeing the movie.

Maybe if he is mentioned but doesn't appear, with the understanding that he will be the villian in the third movie. I'd accept that.

Well, you can't rightly have SS without Galactus. So, I'd say they'll put most of their money into his, possibly, single appearance.

^an interview not to long ago... the writter said that the FF will face off against a giant comsmic force..... sounds like galactus to me

They can if they make it a two-parted like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Surfer shows up and they do a movie about him....and then at the cliffhanger ending Galactus shows up...and they take him on in the third movie.

Exactly my sentiments as well.

Did anyone catch The Daily Show on the 24th? With regards to Pluto's demotion, they recommended that for a way to work out if a planet is a planet or not by "If Galactus would eat it".

1- For all the ones that are blaming Fox, don´t forget to blame the writers, Tim Story and Marvel as well.
Or do you guys think that Tim Story was there just to say "Action" and "Cut", and Marvel wouldn´t fight to have their vision of the screen?

2- For the ones that want Galactus to be exactly like the comic book, prepare to hate what is coming.
Galactus isn´t going to be like the comic, which, to some extand, is a good thing.
Do you guys have any idea how easy is it to turn Galactus into a joke, if you follow the comic to the letter?

For one thing, if it´s to get Galactus, the movie series needs a serious change of tone. if they keep the lame sitcom tone, I won´t be surprised if Galactus first line is a pop culture joke or even if he starts rapping...

I totally agree, and i´ve been saying this since my first post in this forum.
I´m saying that this movie is going to be more of the same, worst even because of Silver Sufer and Galactus, but no one believes me :(

FF2 WILL...NOT...CHANGE....IT´S....TONE!!

They are not going to go from a saturday cartoon to a serious movie, that will not happen.

They hired the writer from My Super Ex Girlfriend, for crying out loud...

I have to disagree with you here. They are surely going to do the Lee Kirby galactus. Any other version would kill them on the internet and they are not that dumb. So there is very little possibility of an ultimate version.

Secondly the idea that big huge giant won't work on screen, well I hear transformers features big giant characters all the time and don't lets forget the power rangers. They still have a cartoon after all these years.

They are definitely going to do Galactus I think, with the big helmet and stuff. The toys with the surfer and everything are going to do mad business. The kiddies will freak over the cool special effects and FF2 could go on with the spidey primer a month ealier to be one of the biggest films of 2007.

And for the record FF was shot in the style of the early Lee/Kirby tone. The film had flaws and they are trying to fix them.

A lot of people however don't seem to get FF, but thats ok, the public voted and that vote counts. I expect FF2 to do even better and FF3 to be a smash when galactus comes for tea and biscuits, lol.

Sorry about SR ultimate, 200 million just was not meant to be I guess, but I still think they will get a sequel, but what is wrong with Singer. he really should stop talking right now, his interviews are becoing more and more strange.

I think Issy is right,i expect major changes to Galactus or perhaps the ultimate version

It´s not about the looks, it´s about getting the characters and the story right, and that I know FF isn´t Men In Black´s poor cousin, which is what Tim Story turned it to be.

:D

They'll use Galactus but only as a reference to the Surfer's origin. I just hope they lose the purple but keep the antennas.

They're not dumb enough to use that Ultimate Gal-act-ussy crap.
