Game Informer possibly spoils details about the Asgardians origin...

Don't know if this is new news, I don't usually hang around here, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I read a preview for Thor: God of Thunder...

It says "In the movie and game universe, Thor and the rest of the Asgardians aren't actual gods, but rather an advanced alien race whose fantastic technology makes them appear godlike."

I guess that answers questions about tying gods in with the tech world of Iron Man?

What do you guys think about it?

That seemed to be in the leaked script, if I recall. But only in passing. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it was that the universes have come together before rather than the whole alien / ufo / etc. bit. Didn't think it stated they weren't gods, just thought of as aliens in the old days (like really, really old "ancient astronaut" days)

Well it's not news really. Kenneth had said that the Asgardians are aliens and it does say in the trailers too that they came to earth and our Ancestors worshiped them as gods.
Tho they also say to THEM magic and science are one and them same, so, their tech is way different than ours. So in some ways they are like us yet still more evolved than us.

what's new is the MAGIC and Technology mix. To me, why Magic has to be explained to be a type of Science that we humans just don't understand yet is new.
To me Magic has always been a form of NATURE's Science. Blending natural things to make something else we don't even think of and I won't be a bit surprised that's the road Marvel takes.

Seems like they may be trying to please everyone and also tie up the seams between Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America's "real life" technology aspect...

Having said that, I'd still like for my Norse gods to be gods and kick the sh** out of any aliens that roll through...

I have a close friend whose Morman (he did his mission in England and visited Stone henge), he actually gave me my favorite copy of Norse myth. lol
I've worked at Renaissance faires for years, watched the History Channel stuff and yeah I'm familiar with all that.

The Game, Too Human, comes very close to what Thor sounds like as well.

Theres something to it. WAY to much to just be pure coincidence. While i'm not 100% on Ancient Aliens yet, i'm positive as I can be without being there, that "Atlantis" in some shape or form existed. Archeology has failed to provide much evidence, but Mythology and Anthropology gives us mountains of evidence, albeit much of it circumstantial.

I don't have a problem with this. If we saw a bunch of immortal, incredibly poweful beings and on a level where magic and tech indistinguishable, they would appear pretty godlike to us.

Yeah I don't have a problem with that idea either SJ, it's a pretty reasonable concept.

It's just that they're making it sound like their tech is the only thing that makes them seem "god like". When in actuality, even without their tech they should still seem "god like" based on their superhuman attributes.

Not to argue with myself above, cause I'm really into the idea of ancient aliens and all that...

But f**k the alien idea for the Asgardians... They were created as gods and I'd like to see them preserved as such if they're gonna be based on this comic book...

^^^ I agree with both post, although I would be satisfied if they kept the status of Asgardians ambiguous. I would also accept the "extra dimensional/other worldly being" title, it just sounds much more distinguished than just "aliens".

i read that issue, didnt sound like Game Informer had any inside information to me. sounds like they just assumed, or they have the same info we do.
