Game of Thrones - HBO part 2

Instead of two seasons why not do a 22 episode or so season for the long books ?

Because they probably don't have the funding to do that in a single year.

Money, or lack-there-of. I'd say that's a pretty good reason to do things.

HBO wont do 22 episodes...I would love it, but viewership will be volatile during that period. And for a paid cable channel it will be tough, but you never know.

This may go so popular, just the way Lord of the Rings took off after the first movie.

As long as it isn't some awkward cut, why would it matter?

Were it done, I'm pretty interested in where the "logical" cut might be.

I would hope it's not [BLACKOUT]The Red Wedding[/BLACKOUT] because you can't leave your audience on that note.
If they thought the backlash for Ned was bad... If they ended season 3 with said Wedding then I think people really would quit the show.

Who the **** gets married that the backlash would be worse then the Ned thing ?

:funny:
I'd actually pay money to see that kind of backlash.

But that was actually my first idea at where to cut it, but it might be a bit too late in the book. It's around the 700 page checkpoint in the paperback, if I remember that number correctly. So a little more than halfway through. That might be too late, but it would make the definition of shocking finale.

Something earlier than that... [BLACKOUT]The Brotherhood Without Banners taking Sandor prisoner, or after the Beric-Sandor duel?[/BLACKOUT]

they could end it brienne and jaime's arc or Arya escaping harrenhal

Isn't that the end of ACOK for Arya when she escapes Harrenhal (another castle I'm dying to see realized BTW)

you are right...got it confused...They should then look at
the wall Mance/Jon or Dany having Drogon burn that master of slaves to ashes and have her army

Its not who gets married, but what happens at the wedding. Do you want to know? You will be MAJORLY MAJORLY spoiled.

You dudes should try to keep the references to a certain big event down to a minimum. Ned's death was a big deal to most of these people, we don't wanna inadvertently do something (I know I'm trying) we shouldn't. Besides, the surprise of it should never be spoiled.

I think this thread will close soon since it's at 990 posts and Thread Manager usually comes in at 1000.

Anyway, for those who have read the book, who would be a good casting choice for Stannis?

all the black out and spoiler tags makes the thread look like a declassified CIA document

Hands down, Mark Strong reminded me of Stannis

Liam Neeson would be excellent as Davos

I see them combining books 4 & 5 into 2 seasons based on story/narrative, not characters/locations like the books.

Way back somewhere in this thread, I also mentioned HBO has split seasons before. The Sopranos and Entourage both had part2 seasons. 12 episodes followed by 6 more about 6 months later. But 12 episodes, cutting the fat and really concentrating on forwarding the story - they can do ASOS in 1 season. There wont be much downtime and filler though, but it can be done.

Reading Crows now.
