Gods, but the last scene was brilliant. Having already expected it, I was gripped nonetheless. Sansa's smugness and subsequent desperation, Arya's disbelief at the people below as they clamored for Ned's head and her savior sent by her father as his last act, and even Cersei's reaction to Joffrey's decision, which I wasn't expecting, were all brilliantly done.

And did anyone pick up in the scene between Dany and Mirri Maz Durr [BLACKOUT]on the rather blatant foreshadowing with the witch glancing briefly at Dany's pregnant belly during that "Only death pays for life" exchange?[/BLACKOUT] Can't wait to see the outcome of that next week.

Heh Argus Filch as Lord Walder Frey???? Just finished reading that chapter last night and I was wondering how that set was gonna look with his 8 wives and all his offspring! Jeez what a sick bastard!!!! :p

I better go pick up A Clash of Kings soon as I am nearing the end of the first book. What a shocker of an ending too. Joffrey that little *****!!! And once more Tyrion continues to steal the show....

I'm loving all these emotional responses as well. Welcome to your first A Song of Ice and Fire "moment". This series doesn't pull punches. The lows can take you really low and the highs make you want to jump up and punch the ceiling.

I think this episode highlighted the fact that this is very definitely a TV show working with a limited budget. Aside from the cut battle scene, the throne room at the Twins looked lot less impressive than the other throne rooms seen; betraying the fact that it's probably not going to be a set they will be using often. This is especially weird since the Freys have monopoly of the bridge connecting the north and south and regularly charge others to cross it - which should mean lots of coin.

P.S.: Lord Walder Frey must be Tyrion's idol. That's one guy who's well on his way to die 'in his own bed, at the age of 80, with a belly full of wine and a girl's mouth around his cock'. That is one seriously dirty old man.

For a tv show your not going to get better production values . I am sorry but are we thisd spoiled that we are expecting it to have a 300 million dollar budget ? Not enough time or money to do that .

This show is not Sparatacus or Rome...The books entire focus is on the cast of characters and battles were rarely in the centerfront...Especially in book 1. The second book will have a battle sequence because it's chapter is heavily involved in one at that moment.
blackwater- ser davos

People waiting to see an epic battle should be wary, this series is more about politics, emotion, drama, betrayal, royal power and survival

I wasn't expecting that. My statement was not meant as criticism but more an observation. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I personally find it quite interesting how ambitious adaptations such as Game of Thrones work around their limitations - be it in terms of budget, air time, film time, cast, etc - and the compromises they make in order for the adaptation to work. It provides a lot of insight into both; the cast and crew, as well as the source material.

They should do a video for the DVD / Blu-Ray where Ned randomly gets super powers & then he goes on a killing spree killing any & all people with the last name Lannister & anyone that is related to them in any way. Would be great

in an entertainment landscape where 'surprise' has become a dirty word, I commend this series and HBO for sacking up and letting the audience have it.....right in the face

I was kinda disappointed that they skipped the whole lannister/starks battle. We didnt even get to see how they captured Jaime. That was such a blatant "we didnt have the budget nor time to show you this" moment.

Actually... that is almost exactly how they did it in the book... From Caitlyn Starks POV during the battle... I was more upset that they didn't show Tyron in Battle... because in the book, he fought a knight and bested him on the field of battle.

I picked up on that rather blatant look.... so did the others watching in my household who had not read the book.... so I would think it was fairly obvious.

I think it's for the better, as it helps the consistency of Tyrion's character. Jaime is the swordsman amongst the Lannister boys while Tyrion's forte is his brains. This blends better with how Tyrion needed/wanted Bronn to fight for him back at the Eyrie.

From what I can see people are more pissed off about Ned then not seeing the fight

My friend told me his girl might not watch Game of Thrones anymore after last night's episode. She kept crying during the last scene with Ned, kept saying "It's not right."

It's a tough scene. It wass almost like I was re-living what I felt when I read it in the book.

Got to give Sean Bean some props. He made people like Ned & look at the out cry over that last scene. He needs to win an Emmy

So, I'm wondering, where are all the other houses during this? Cause there are seven right? Do the Targaryens still count as one of the seven?

The question is will this hurt the ratings or actually get more people to watch the finale due to all of this publicity ? & will they stay next Season ? Time will tell

one of my friends had a similar reaction....not the crying but the "it's not right" thing

I always knew people would start checking out at this point, or after the events next week.

Shellshocked ... I have the book, haven't read it yet, and just had to look through it to confirm what happened had actually happened :P This is the reason it's the best thing on TV.

and this is what gets me about people sometime....they say "we want different, we want a surprise"...and they get it and they are all :cmad:
