Just curious, I'm dizzy_34 on that board. Lots of lively discussion of this series over there, of coarse. :)

It is indeed lively, maybe I'll join. That and Westeros are the sites I use when searching for news.

You should, been posting there pretty much since it started and most everyone that posts is pretty knowledgable and nice to boot. A lot of winter's stories orginate out of the comments because tons of people from the production and some of the actors go there to give updates. Also there's not too many trolls (yet) which is good.

WiC is thinking David Bradley is Walder Frey based on clues from GRRM! Filch from Harry Potter as Frey that's cool to me.

So it sounds like they are aging the characters up right?

Bradley as Frey is a good choice and I'm happy that he will appear in the first season.

Makinggameofthrones has got all the pics from the EW issue in HQ. :awesome:

And apparently going by WIC we're going to get some footage soon.

UPDATE: Looks like I would have lost money on my bet. We aren’t getting a new trailer on Dec 5… we are getting it tomorrow! HBO has just informed us that tomorrow (with a repeat on Sunday) they will be airing what they are calling the “third tease promo” for Game of Thrones. So maybe not a full trailer, but something new for sure! They don’t give a time but do remind us that the trailer will be viewable on their site immediately after airing on the East Coast. We will of course have it embedded here on the site as soon as it is available.

Bummer, Westeros is reporting that tonight it will be just a promo spot for "Inside Game of Thrones" which will be airing on December 5th.
But tomorrow on Sunday Nov. 28th a new teaser will pop up. :)

Important Update on 3rd Teaser
HBO has clarified that the promo showing up tonight before the 8PM film is, in fact, a promo spot for the Inside Game of Thrones 15-minute program which we’ve already reported on. It may well contain some new, quick shots that give a sense of what the promo piece will show on December 5th before the Boardwalk Empire finale, but it’s not the promised 3rd teaser.

Instead, the new 3rd teaser will start airing on Sunday, not Saturday. Again, we fully expect it will air just before or just after Boardwalk Empire, but we’ll try to get more specific information.

=****ing A!! :awesome:

Finished the first book. Quick question.

In the last chapter, did Dany kill Mirri Maz Duur as a necessary sacrifice to bring life to the dragon eggs, or did she do it simply as an act of vengeance?

And by the way,

Dragons for the win.

I wonder how they'll alter the show to make it better than the books.

Yes, and remember also what Mirri Maz Durr said to Dany, "Only death could pay for life." And she together with the great fire caused Dany's dragon eggs to hatch.

Did Dany also kill Khal Drogo and his horse as part of the ritual? There were, after all, three eggs. So wouldn't there need to be three deaths?

Also

I almost stopped reading this book when Ned died. I am absolutely ****ing livid.

No, Kahl had already died. Her death served both the purpose of revenge and got the eggs started.

yeah, I was pissed when Ned died. To that point he was my favorite character. But I'm a Tryrion guy ... and Jon Snow ... and Hodor.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Word to the wise, don't get too attached to ANY character. I know it's hard not to.

The trailer is spectacular. Can't wait for the behind the scenes stuff next Sunday.

Yeah I'm a Tyrion and Jon Snow guy too ... and Strong Belwas ...

My favorite POV characters is Dany and Tyrion. Though I haven't read A Feast for Crows.

Well don't expect those two to show up in A Feast for Crows. However Dany has a sample 'Dance' chapter I believe at the end. I thought Feast was a bit plodding but really picks up at the end.

Can we get a mod to change the thread title so its easier to find for people who may be looking for it?

Heh, I'm not even sure the mods know what the call it. It's A Song of Ice and Fire btw. But I'd go with HBO: Game of Thrones
