Martin is only 62. Even in 10 years he'll only be 72. The books will be finished in 2020.

but he's also very fat and unhealthy....dude could drop dead tomorrow and it really wouldn't be a surprise

Yeah, that's what worries me. Robert Jordan was 58 when he died, and his series still isn't done yet.

Yeah, all this talk that he will die before finishing the series is a little premature. From the sounds of it, the next book should be done this year (basing that off some of his more recent comments about how it is progressing and the fact that the book is almost at the length of A Storm of Swords at the moment), and he's only got two more books after that. Everyone is assuming that because this one has taken over half a decade, the others will as well. There's no way to know that.

Game of Thrones premiers on April 17th! Gonna be a long few months...

EDIT: A quote from EW.com about the next book:
A representative for Martin’s publisher Random House says that, regarding George R.R. Martin’s long-long-long-long awaited fourth book in the series, Dance With Dragons, that an announcement may be coming soon (the fact he’s at press tour is interesting in itself … perhaps the publisher just employs a guy to follow Martin around urging him to finish the damn book already). The rep notes Random House is very aware of the HBO series (premiere date posted here) and the potential opportunity for cross promotion … hmm.

April 17? Can't wait and if "A Dance of Dragons" comes out this year it'll be great, means that I have to start reading "A Feast for Crows" soon.

11 new photo in high resolution, I'll just put two here since they're so huge, the rest is here but anyway the photos = :awesome:

Awesome pics! The best one is Robb and Bran with the direwolves.

The throne looks ****ing amazing and the teaser was cool. So freakin pumped for this.

HBO just keep makeing the best shows. True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and now this.

If the show manages to be as good as the books then this will be nothing short of amazing.

I saw the new promo and then looked at the old ones. It looks pretty interesting. I'm happy to see Bean, Headey, and Dinklage getting work on what looks like a good show

That throne is an amazing piece of art and one of the best depictions of a throne...ever! A throne should never be comfortable to sit on and that picture exemplifies it.

This new teaser is pretty cool. I'm curious wether it will stir an interest in people who haven't read the books. I try to mantain a healthy dose of fanboyish scepticism about this show, but the simple truth is I'm pumped for it! The next three months can't pass fast enough!

I love that the Throne looks weathered and old. And first glimpse of soon to be everyone's favorite sidekick Ghost!

Totally forgot about Ghost, he looks great.

I like the teaser, effective and speaks so much of the tone of the series, and the throne does look uncomfortable.

New Arya video.

Cool video. Hopefully we get more videos focusing on the actors.

It's may be too early but from that video I have to say that Maisie really captures how Arya is from the books.

Two old news, but it hasn't been posted here yet so.

The show has got a new composer, Ramin Djawadi.

‘Game of Thrones’ has parted ways with its Academy Award-winning composer, Stephen Warbeck. The much-anticipated HBO drama has hired a new composer, Ramin Djawadi.

Djawadi’s most notable television projects have been ‘FlashForward’ and ‘Prison Break,’ and in the film realm, Djawadi wrote the scores for ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Clash of the Titans.’ Djawadi will have to work fast: The fantasy drama premieres in just over 10 weeks, on April 17.

He's alright, I like the score for Iron Man.

And Magaret John, the actress who plays Old Nan has passed away. :(

In other 'Game of Thrones' news, a member of the cast passed away recently and the show's executive producers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, issued a statement mourning the loss of Margaret John, who played Old Nan.

"We were deeply saddened to hear about Margaret's passing," the statement said. "She was a warm and wonderful person, and she was completely fantastic in her scenes with Isaac. We wish she could see them... but many people will, and they will love her. We will miss her terribly."
