This thread is to make public predictions about how you think a game is going to be before it comes out. Somewhat different than a preview, this game will discuss some of the problems that you have with games.

People always get excited and want to only hear positive things about games they're going to buy, and when you step up and "tell it like it is" people get pissed. Well here's a thread to discuss the negative without being viewed as a bad guy.

If you don't want to hear a negative comment or disagree, then don't post here. The thread is not here to turn into a battle ground it's here to give people that may not agree with the mainstream a voice as well.

-Fallout 3
-Ghostbusters
-Street Fighter 4
-Resident Evil 5
-Saints Row 2
-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows...

A lot of games are coming out. You can discuss any game that has enough information to form a truthful opinion about. Don't just rag on a game, you have to make a quality post based on truth. If you're just flaming and attacking a game with no just cause, your post will probably get deleted by a mod because ...well they are always watching. (ALWAYS) And you're most likely going to get reported. So be mature, be opinionated, but be factual.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows:

Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2 and DS...Every system like most spidey games
Shaba, Activision, Treyarch and Marvel are the companies to blame if this sucks

The Problem (Overview):

For the last couple of years, gamers that had major consoles have had to deal with movie licensed games. Of course there are a plethora of opinions, but most fans tend to agree that Spider-Man 3 and the recent combination of comic, cartoon and film, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe just plain sucked.

Ultimate Spider-Man had come out and was actually not such a bad game in and of itself, but having come AFTER Spider-Man 2, (which had given players a lot of options) felt like a downgrade. And was honestly half of a game because you split the game with Ultimate Venom. If you dislike Ultimate Venom (or just how he was portrayed in the game), then you would have had a horrible time playing with him.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is, in a way, more like a continuation of the Spider-Man games for Playstation; Spider-Man: The Game, Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. It will have story based on the 616 comics, and movements and powers that are based more directly on those comics'.

The problem is that, we are....I'm not.....just a comic book fan. We're also gamers. And so I believe that a sequel should not have less than a game that came before it, but MORE. The trend, of recent years, has to downgrade in terms of activities and such to do.

The Downgrade:

Spider-Man 2:
*Activities:

-Pizza Delivery Missions
-Fight Club (Remember? Fight all those bosses and stuff)
-Races
-MJ Dates
-Photo Taking
-Bruce Campbell's tips were funny but also collectible
-Bowling
-Token Collecting
-A large selection of random crimes so you weren't always doing the same things
-Hideout finding
*Exploration:
-Indoor and outdoor areas
-Dialogue makes exploring fun (He didn't speak a lot but he did)
-Tokens gave a reason to explore
-Hideouts of villains almost always were filled with villains and thus made exploring them interesting
-Many intriguing spots in the largest rendered free roam NYC in a spidey game
*Game:
-Longest story mode
-Plenty of comic characters appear
-You don't fight villains after story (but you can in the fight club thing), but you do fight men in mech-suits that can shoot rockets at you and machine gun fire, so you can still have epic battles in the game even after the story was done.
-Two different web styles to choose from and you could pick which one was best for you. There was a complicated one and a "easy" mode.
-Lots of fight moves and aerial tricks, and the ability to web many people and hang them from light poles
-You can beat up people after they've been KO'ed and have fun with their ragdoll bodies
-You can actually pick up enemies and swing off to a building like the empire state building and pile drive them all the way to the ground without taking damage yourself. This, I think, was not intentional but was still a fun feature of the game. And Developers are aware of that.

Ultimate Spider-Man:
*Activities:

-Races
-Johnny Storm Races
-Play as Venom
-Venom Theft Auto
-Combat Tours
-Tokens
-Minimal Random City Crimes (Speeding, gangs, wounded people that need to go to the hospital, or saved from falling, randomly fight boomerang or shocker who are weaker than gang members)
*Exploration:
-Minimal USM locations
-Smallest city
-Colorful cell shaded/comic design makes being in NYC again different and still entertaining
-Unlockables!
-Good acting and voice work, along with random talking makes traveling with Peter not so silent..(though maybe repetive)
*Game:
-Shortest story mode
-Largest amount of comic characters
-Repetive levels
-Almost nothing to do after completing story mode except races, random crimes and combat tours. Although the same can be said about SM2, in a way; however, SM2 had more variety in those things
-Although there are unlockables, the costumes don't grant any special powers and require a lot to obtain to only just be skins..

Spider-Man 3:
*Activities:
-Smallest Selection of Random Crimes
-Gang Fighting
-Tokens? (I don't even remember)
-MJ Rides
*Exploration:
-Sewers
-Better Graphics
- Bigger city than USM
*Game:
-Red Suit or Black suit
-Medium length story
-Storyline elements from previous movie games forgotten
-Very minimal roster of characters from comics

So do you see how we've lost instead of gained? Now certain people would normally argue and say things like "Well SM3 had New Goblin as a playable character"...okay, well USM had Venom, so that's not an upgrade but a continuation...and anyway it was only for one system...so it doesn't even count. I personally like the 360 better than PS3. I would not buy the system just to play as a character, that people have said was not even fun to play as.

I tried to simply list facts and not put my opinions into the above. I listed what was playable if the list seems shorter as the games progress, it's because I did NOT list things that were not in the game.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows/ Conclusion

This post will probably be so damn long that it will be impossible to post so I'll seperate this into another post.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows/ Conclusion:

I'm really looking forward to having another comic-based Spider-man game. And the concepts behind this game amaze me and leave me intrigued. But each game that comes out has less and less content. We have been shown almost nothing regarding this game, and what we have seen was limited.

-The swinging is hidden and from what has been said, is "simplified" so no choice like in SM2.
-Combat has been improved
-No activities have been discussed or promoted
-It was even said that players should "not play the previous games a month or so before playing WOS" (That may not be the direct quote but it's the same message, i.e. don't play the previous games)
-Apparently a large amount of characters are said to appear in the game, but very few have been confirmed so far. Vulture, Wolverine, Black Cat, Luke Cage, Venom and possibly Kingpin...The game comes out next month
-The game comes out next month and almost NO information has been given about the game...the few videos we've gotten are nothing in comparison to what we have for Saints Row 2, Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5...

I could go on with the possible problems but this is my prediction for the game:

Prediction:

The game will come out and probably have a very interesting storyline, maybe the best yet in terms of narration. But the webslinging will be a problem for a lot of people, there will be a lot of repetitive battles and levels, the unlockable content will fail to impress and the main selling point will probably be the amount of destruction you can cause as Black Suited Spider-Man.

I believe that in terms of player choice and "upgrade vs. downgrade" The games will probably fit like this:

1.) Spider-Man 2 (the most to do in the game)
2.)Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
3.) USM
4.) Spider-Man 3 (the least)
97.) Friend or Foe (an example of trash)

It all comes down to this. Can Web of Shadows finally TOP what is arguably the BEST Spider-man game ever made?

I think they've got a shot. but at the same time I am concerned about the answers given thus far. They keep reminding us of the combat, like a magician trying to distract with one hand while manipulating with the other.

I don't like the sound of it at all...
Even the missions revolve around combat. Now I'm all for an action adventure.
I love the combat and I love the moves but sounds like it may get repetitive.
they say over 100 moves, but of course its not as it seems.

If its 100 combos than I believe its 50/50 down the middle between the black and red suit. which isn't bad, but that all depends on how they look and if they work on enemies.

I don't think they will top Hulk UD. but it sounds like they may come close at least. :yay:

I completely agree. And that's the problem...it HAS a shot, but I don't think they're going to take it. They keep telling us about combat, they have not released ANYTHING, they sold rights to IGN so technically it shouldn't even be up to them. It's irritating.

And everytime they talk about the combat its either the "web strike" or the "swing kick"

Those moves sounds awesome, but what about team attacks?
Stuff like that...I'm getting pissed that they didnt go in depth.

They just repeat the same stuff over and over again and it REALLY worries me.

The last game I hyped like this was the bourne conspiracy, and they did THE SAME THING. :csad:

Right. And if they keep showing us the Vulture fight, the symbiote invasion, swing kick, web strike and nothing more....then what does that mean that the game will end up being? Just that.

People talk about activision and stuff. But the problem isn't even the fact that they're hiding ****, but the fact that each game is progressively worse than the last.

Why is this in the Microsoft section??? All those games you mentioned are multiplat. Plus ur title needs to be corrected. Being that you are only going to focus on the negatives, your title should reflect that.

There's still a chance of it being an awesome game, but there's also an equal chance of it being a bad game. Just like in the Spider-Man 2 game many gamers thought it might have been bad since the graphics have been downgraded compared to the first movie game, but that made it very easy on the eyes.

(SM 2) Whenever we fought thugs in the game, it felt like we were button mashing, except for the parts of grabbing them throwing them in the water, tying them up to a light post etc. I'm not saying this game will be a button mashing game, and I'm not saying it will not be, that all depends on the day it comes out.

(UM S) This game was pretty good, I didn't like some of the fights in it since it was again, button mashing but hey, it did pretty good. As for the storyline, well, it was an actually good concept.

(SM 3) Oh boy, they upped the graphics from SM 2 but in trade, the gameplay was just demmed down. And what was up with the loading after each mission. It felt like the rushed the game.

As for web of shadows, it may beat SM 2 because of all the new features and I'm sure they reviewed the other recent games to fix and integrate the solution for fans. We may be able to get a little more "air" since you know, Shaba games, maybe they're hiding things to keep us asking them for more releases. Like MGS 4, for a long while they had the same trailer and info up for a long time and near the time it was released, more things were released. And when I played it at a friends' house, I really did believe that all my questions were answered. But for now, lets keep this interesting and keep extending our beliefs of what the game will be liked.

One more thing, I believe I should've created the game cover, because Wolvie and Venom looked more detailed than Spider-Man.

I was wondering why this was in the MS area when he has no MS exclusives in his lineup there.

Why are you both saying that? I didn't say the post was about these games. I said that these were EXAMPLES of games that are coming out. I even explained directly that you can discuss ANY game.

If you must know, however, I have only a 360 for next gen. So I don't really CARE about Wii, PS3 or DS or anything. I only have/care about XBOX360.

So discuss microsoft/xbox games...*shock, horror, confusion*:wow:

EDIT:
And anyway what does it matter, you're not mods. I could understand if they asked me, but both of your comments (moreso, PP, as I don't really blame you, Brainiac, because you're just agreeing)..are highly arrogant. "Why is this in the Microsoft section??? All those games you mentioned are multiplat. Plus ur title needs to be corrected. Being that you are only going to focus on the negatives, your title should reflect that. " Really? You're going to tell me how to title a post when you can't even spell "your"? Like either respond to the thread itself or don't...I think I said that in the first post. But it's really insulting to try to make me out to be an idiot when I've done nothing wrong. Yes the EXAMPLES are all multiplatform games, but aren't they all on 360? What if I only like 360? What if I'm only discussing the 360 version? Is that something that you couldn't think of on your own, did you have to ask?

I hold nothing against you or anything. Neither of you, in fact, I like most of both of your posts...BUT I just feel this was really arrogant and insulting and mostly unnecessary.

why isnt forced unleashed on the list?

Did you even read the above post?

Can people( as in, anyone AFTER strikezone89, I'm not talking about brainiac or PP) stop with these sarcastic/rude comments about a damn list? It's not funny, it doesn't make you look clever, it just makes you look dumb for not knowing the difference between an example and a topic based directly on something.

Are you really going to attack me for using “ur” instead of your. I mean that’s the best you got? You are really fishing for something there man.

I understood your original post. I get that you can discuss any game, more reason for this thread to be in the multi-plat section. I get that you have/care only for the 360, that’s fine, but the fact remains you are still discussing titles that will release on all the platforms. Minus the Wii, the games will remain the same from system to system. There are a lot of PS3/other users who never check the MS section and there is a good chance they’ll never see this thread. Being that I don’t own a Wii, I never check the Nintendo section. Had you of put this in the Misc section, you would get more traffic. I didn’t mean to attack/insult your intelligence, but you should see why Brainiac and I agree that it was odd to put this thread in the MS section.

Then I owe you an apology. I'm not going to even bother explaining what I thought...

Anyway, Yeah THAT is a good point. But I still think here is where it belongs as I am referring to xbox titles. I listed multiplatform games and I said "any game" but I meant any game on XBOX.

I'm never going to spend 600 dollars for a system that is only marginally better in terms of usage of technology, and inferior in terms of gameplay. (Though I suppose that's debatable)..And my GF has Wii. So I would never buy one even if some miracle had me wanting one.

I just hope they top the latest Hulk game. The one for the movie. That was bad. You stood on the roof top and all the other buildings were covered in brown fog. And it froze everytime i played. I'm looking forward to this one though. Just a little nervous

So it comes out on Tuesday, now is the perfect time...to predict:

In the year 2000, in the year...2000</andy richter>

In the year 2000, Web of Shadows will come out and:

- The game will be short
-Boss battles will have a lot of filler (such as fighting minions), unlike previous spider-man games where you just fought the boss
-Little to no codes (not for the purpose of cheating but for adding replay to the game)
-The only replay value will be in making "alternate choices" which may not change that much probably until the end.
-"Repetitive" will be the most commonly used word to describe the majority of complaints about the game
-Combat will be below the standard and hype that the company made it out to be, and will get very annoying.
-Slinging will equal fail compared to say SM2...

Overall the game will probably be about a 7 or 8/10 in most honest reviews of the game. It won't SUCK like SM3 or friend or foe, but it won't be "the best spidey game ever"

I predict Fallout 3 will be game of the year

I still think that'll go to Metal Gear Solid 4, as i dont think well see another game this generation with a story as moving and as dramatic as what we saw in MGS4. A reviewer for Max Payne stated last week how game just dont have the emotional connection that movies have and he has obviously never played through MGS4, because by the end of it you truly feel for Snake and the rest of the characters.
However, Fallout 3 is gonna kick all kinds of ass and I'm soooo pissed that i wont have any money left over after Fable to pick it up on release. Hopefully ill be able to come up with some money shortly after tho cuz I'm dying to play Fallout.

Honestly, my prediction for game of the year is for GTA4. There are a LOT of people who will tell you it's like the "best game ever" just because so many people have played it and like it.

Either MGS4, GTA4 or Guitar Hero/Rockband....It's not about good gaming anymore, it's about popularity.

EDIT:
I'm referring to rockband/guitar hero when I say that. Because those games never deserved sequels. A "sequel" could have been done through DLC, they just wanted a way to cash in. MGS4 and GTA4(even though I have/had more fun with Saints Row 2...), are still amazing games.

I've played video games since I was 3, and aside from laughter and going "holy ****" at certain points, I've never had an emotional connection with any video game character

Then you need to play through MGS4. S**t was moving, holmes.
