Sci-Fi Gareth Edwards reportedly in talks to return for Jurassic World Rebirth sequel

The original novel was much more R-rated but if they were to do a more faithful adaptation it would have to be its own separate thing, and preferably a miniseries rather than a movie.

Hammond was a one dimensional villain "greed is good" type while Ellie was just a window decoration.

I don't think they need to go horror but the original has some intense scenes like the T-Rex escape or the raptors in the kitchen and when you saw those you actually felt some tension and stakes. It makes sense why they have focused more on the fun for the family adventure aspect of the franchise, I just wish we got better writing.

You don't have to turn it into an R-rated franchise to make good movies. That's a cop out excuse. There are plenty of good PG13 movies and this franchise has been PG13 from day one. Write a better movie. If you want R-rated Jurassic Park, then make a new Dinosaur movie that's R-rated

I meant make it rated R because you’re talking about walking apex predators who move faster than most animals on earth with huge teeth and lots of them. Stop treating these dinosaurs with disrespect and dumbness. You don’t have to make it rated r, or have a high body count, but these dinosaurs need to be portrayed as the most dangerous animals to hit the screen. Go for Alien tone. Massive a character driven movie with dangerous monsters in background.

On a scale of "injured kids escaping 2 raptors by the skin of their teeth in a kitchen" and "family escaping a slow T-Rex who comically fails to destroy their inflatable raft" I do think the needle should be moved closer to the first but the last time they tried to go for more of a horror tone we got Fallen Kingdom where a large dinosaur was navigating a haunted mansion with the swiftness of Michael Myers.

Back in the day, before I saw the movie myself, a friend described a scene to me in which a dinosaur would "pretend to be asleep" and would "almost wink at the audience" before attacking the man next to him. I thought he was exaggerating a bit to make me laugh.

But I later discovered that it was dead accurate.

And sure enough, I laughed again... :o

I mean that happens. That's literally the finale of Rebirth. It's too short but I think how it's handle is rather well done and I'm impressed at how capable of the soldiers actually come off there.

Didn't find the later comical outside of the resilience of the raft.

I do think people underestimate how tough a life raft like that actually has to be.

Just re-watched Rebirth tonight. The disc was faulty so that didn't help matters, but it's just such a meh movie.

Why the family were sailing in Mosasaur infested waters I'll just never know. Even a comment about how the Mosasaur never goes that far out would have helped. But nothing. And when that's a big part of your movie it's just not good. And while Dominion was poor, it at least set up something interesting with Dinosaurs living in the wild. But nope, literally the next movie scraps that idea.

The cast are game, but I do hope they can make a better movie next time. Or I won't be bothering.

I've only seen it once, but I thought their trip wasn't out of the ordinary. In which case, why would they expect the Mosasaur to be there?

They said they had done the trip before. But then it's also mentioned the Mosasaur is in that area due to the climate near the equator. Same with the Spinosaurs. Why would you even risk it let alone with kids.

Doesn't the dad say something about 50k boats? What are the chances they are the one to run into it?

People live in dangerous places, do things that might be considered dangerous to other folk. But you mentioned the idea of living with dinos that was setup at the end of Dominion. This is an example of that. No different then gators, big cats, or bears.

So, no one should visit Australia? Or any region with a small population of very deadly animals? I mean, in a much smaller area of water, sailing boats have been getting played with by orcas. And still, a whole lot of boats in that area.

This is a series where the very premise is resurrecting creatures we know can kill us. Then trying to make them even better killing machines. Intelligent beings, we are not.

She's coming back, which is the only excuse I need for my ass to be in the theater.

All the Dad is they have made the crossing 50 thousand times. Which in itself seems stupid.

I don't think this is an example of what was set up at the end of Dominion. This just seemed stupidly.

I've lived in Australia for 12 months. People take precautions most of the time and don't venture into the most dangerous territories unless they have too. Plus a spider bite is a bit different than being swallowed whole by a boat sized Dino. Orcas don't tend to eat and hunt humans.

Also I'm pretty sure they had a line about how the Mosasaur was venturing outside its previously known territory.

Nope they don't. I was looking out for that line watching it again as I thought the same and nothing is mentioned about the Mosasaur being outside of it's normal territory. That would explained the family taking such a risk.

What do you think living with dinos in the wild entails?

What do you think living with dinos in the wild entails?

Taking precautions? Having some form of protection? Not taking a young child into the most dangerous area on the planet on a boat that can't protect her in any way?

I mean those are just off the top of my head.

The ocean is vast. They were very clearly miles away from the island, as the company guy clearly didn't want to do the detour. And I don't think they were sailing into the prohibited zones. Even if it was known the mosasaur can be in that area, that vastly expands where it lives. And the chances of encountering one animal in such an area is pretty damn small.

The company guy didn't want to pick up civilians as they would be witnesses.

We aren't talking about some adrenaline junkies here. If there is even a chance of running into a boat sized dinosaur why even take the risk with a small child and no protection? Duncan, one of the main characters, even has a go at the father in the movie itself for them being out there.

The main characters go in an armoured boat and have huge trouble.
