I have just gotten home from what was one of the best experiences of my life.

After spending the afternoon with my mentor and former boss, Richard Donner, I had the pleasure of attending the Superman Returns premiere in Westwood tonight, followed by an amazing party afterwards. Hung out with Donner, Dan Didio, Mark Waid, Michael Dougherty and many more on what was one of the greatest nights of my life.

The movie rocks. It's a classic. Bryan and the gang did it so right. They made Donner proud.

And that's not easy to do.

Enjoy it next week,

Geoff

As far as I know this hasn't been posted yet. Hopefully I was right. Anyway, this is good news nonetheless.

Well he should. Its basically a rehash of his movie (wait for it.....wait for it....)

I usually stay out of review threads, as they are pretty much just someone else's opinion but just for the record, this carries little weight. Bryan Singer and Dick Donner are very close friends. Singer lived with the Donner's when he first moved to Hollywood and is basically like a son to them. This movie could be a steaming pile of dung and Donner wouldn't say it.

Agreed.

I like it when people consistently put time and energy into things they don't like. Matt has a lot of time and energy.

I would usually agree but he's right. People have been asking about Donner's thoughts on the film for a week+ now, and the fact is he would NEVER bash it in anyway. It's a foregone conclusion....

Who would be a better President? Bush or Kerry? Let's ask Fox news...

Yeah and Singer liked X3....sorry I just had to throw that in there...But I'm sure Donners approval is genuine its nice to hear, and I didn't expect that this would be anything but great, if not better than the old movies just because of the fact that they're using technology Donner may have never thought possible back in the day. Movies and special effects have evolved and I bet it put a smile on Donners face to see that Bryan Singer decided that if nothing else this would be a continuation of his Superman movies...maybe Donner thought Superman would never be revived fully in Hollywood again...after seeing so many franchises get screwed up over the years.

I wonder if he really liked it.

We'll never know.

Hollywood phonies.

Yeah and Singer liked X3....sorry

Do you really think Singer would say bad things about a very good friend of his Movie  We really can not know for sure. If it is one thing Hollywood People are good at is lying their asses off

Ofcourse I don't think Singer would say bad things about a movie to a very good friend...but I'm sure he still didn't like it. I kinda said that as aj joke not just because its probably a matter of fact. It pertains to contuing the title of the thread.

Yeah Yeah  And critics are also Singer's friends, go on with consoling yourself.

oh yeah, sure... and I'm a non assertive, non confrontational guy...

Hell, lets all go through the OFFICIAL REVIEW THREAD and count the Matt posts...

Nice to hear Donner liked it, but it has been pointed out, that was to be exspected when his film was put on a pedestal. John's responce is good to hear though!

Well, you can´t say that about Geoff Johns.

Don't see Matt opening his mouth about Geoff Johns. Interesting, as usual.

And maybe Donner DID actually enjoy the film? Given Matt's track record, I doubt he would know how outspoken and downright egotistical Donner can be, and worst case scenario considering their personal relationship, it's likely Donner would have simply remained quiet had he not enjoyed the film, whereas any other scenario he would have been quite vocal on the subject.

Exactly, Geoff Johns is a different story, and he's the one who commented on this.

If Donner didn't like it, I'm sure you wouldn't hear a comment AT ALL - he'd just stay quiet.

I never had any doubts about Singer delivering a good film.

Great news. This film will be fantastic!!!
