I posted a thread about this before and am just updating it.

After my recent experiences an torments of ML15, X-Men series 3, and dealing with scalpers over at fwoosh, I am done at the end of this year. I may come back briefly to get Hasbro ML2 and the Iron Spidey, but other than that, I'm out. This "hobby", "lifestyle", whatever is just too stressful and ridiculous at times and I'm bowing out.

Hey, who'd you have bad experiences with at the fwoosh? Did they scam you? PM me if you'd rather not post names.

I didn't really get scammed, but I got tired of guys picking up extra figures that are in demand for trade purposes and then asking for extremely rare figures, or asking for 3 figures for their 1 which they got at retail.

then stop going to fwoosh
no need to quit just b/c of fwoosh

By no means should I quit just because of fwoosh. But I've been thinking about it for a while now. The action figure game is fun but what more do I need? I can't even count how many characters I've picked up that I know nothing about and only needed them because I wanted the BAF piece. Iron Fist? 5 years ago I wouldn't have given a damn about the character. AOA Wolverine? Still, wouldn't care. I know wolverine, but not AOA, mind you. I have a huge and very nice collection. My MOC collection is top notch and my loose collection is excessive. I've picked up the figures and characters I wanted, done what I could, and I'm good to end it.

Farewell my good friend. But don't feel bad, I have also cut my collection back drastically in the past month or so. And I'll only get a few select characters here and there since I have no need to collect entire waves of ML.

Its been a fun ride, but now its time to kick back and chill.

Besides, I was planning on being done by the time I graduated. I'm almost a semester late on being done, but it's a good note to end on. I'm just tired of dealing with all the people in this hobby. For every one good person, there's 10 nutjobs that make it miserable for you.

You're not both. Just so happens, the few tolerable people are here at the hype.

Well, I know I can be a nutjob about certain things. Thats why I said.

But I agree, its completely two different worlds here and Fwoosh.

But I am looking forward to no longer running out to walmart or spending too much extra money. Don't know how I'm going to stop though, it's such a habit now.

I hope I'm not one of those nutjobs :( I hope I didn't upset you with wanting that loose GG for one of the ML15 figs. I just don't need it that badly, but wouldn't mind helping you out with one of them and helping myself a little since I could use him.

Its gonna be tough Santo. I can't quit cold turkey man. I gotta dwindle it down some though my man.

Just glad i have my Ross Justice figures to keep me happy. Plus the continuous flow of Batman stuff from DCD and Mattel. :D

Its plastic crack man.

Well, after my extensive experience at Wizard World and being on the "inside" at a comic shop, I'm learning that the action figure world is kinda similar to the drug industry. It's quite frustrating.

And SHT, I appreciate you trying to help me out. But I don't know how many times I gotta tell ya this, I spent a good amount of money on my two green goblin figures and letting them go for a retail-purchased figure is basically like giving you money out of my wallet along with the figure.

It is frustrating. Especially the whole Kang ordeal. I'm still mad about that. :cmad:

not finding Kang?

I don't know if Toybiz understands it's logic when it comes to short packing figures. Villains and women don't sell as well in a kid's line, yet 90% of what stays on the shelves are everything but villains and women.

that's cool bro. and i understand. don't take me up on the offer if you don't want too. If bat gives me his MODOK peice for spiderwoman, then i won't need another MOC of her cause i don't care about her. I acutally have an extra MOC spiderwoman now, but she is craptastic. her eye paint is bad. I want a set MOC until my cornerstore set comes in. I've never ordered from them and want to make sure i get it. But if i find extra figs, i'll pick them up and we can work something out. I'm not trying to scalp you or screw you, i just want my MOC set and loose set. This is a great line of figs and don't want to end up not having both sets.

i'm sure i'll end up getting out of the game eventually. there is only so much shelf space one can have. but when i do, i'm looking forward to more sleep. right now i'd be alseep, but instead, i'm here talking about action figures.

I think my GF may appreciate me getting out of it, as well. No more dragging her on my toyhunts, although it is one of my favorite times to spend with her. But to go hunting and not find anything is disappointing, to bring someone else along and feel like you're wasting their time is worse.

i know exactly how that feels. my gal used to like it, and does sometimes. but i've never actually made a big score with her, well, not when looking for figs at least. she gets mad b/c she'll go a lot with me when stuff starts hitting, and the one time she doesnt go with me, i find everything.

i feel bad for wasting her time. though, i feel even worse when i have nothing else i care about looking for, and then she drags me to clothes and makeup and crap like that. i feel even worse then.

Hell, my girlfriend finds more stuff than I do on her own. She found all of the walmart series (and some extra for you dudes here), Dark Phoenix, Phasing Vision, Goliath, just tons of stuff I can't find.

the only thing mine found on her own was DCSH wave 3. but she goes to WM and "forgets" to look for me most of the time.
