Oh sorry, I didn't know we had a Ghost Rider forum with a review thread.

Can the mods change the title to "Rate Ghost Rider 2" and get it moved to the GR forum?

Everyone knows this flick is getting ripped. With that said, rewatch the first so you'll get a fresh taste of how bad it is. Then go watch the 2nd with low expectations.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much better this was than the first flick. It was decent with a much darker tone. The Rider was much improved in every way, IMO. The movie was slow in parts and you just felt like you didn't see the actual GR enough. It's not Green Lantern bad, the first GR was, but this one was decent.

Someone else described it as having a slight B-movie feel to it. I would say that is accurate..

6.5/10

the movie was probably as bad as Cat Woman. I thought it was gonna be bad, but I love Ghost Rider so I had to go see it. The guy next to me was asleep, no joke. The action is slow and not worth the 3D price (in fact it is not even worth rental price or the time that you will waste and never get back).

The directors said that they did not read the comics, and it shows; they also did not read a good script for the movie. They should not ever touch a camera, not even to make home videos or to film weddings. It is sad because ghost rider has so much potential, but this movie is not even worth the time

I caught a matinee show yesterday. I liked it. It was by no means a great movie, but I enjoyed it much more than the first one. I thought the special effects for the flames and the Ghost Rider were much better and more realistic. They absolutely could've done better with the story, but it's just okay for what it is. Nicholas Cage felt more attuned to the role here than in GR. Cage is known for his quirky mannerisms and occasional film freakouts and he has a couple of those moments here. What I think hurts this film (and also hurt the first one) is the lack of a compelling villain. Blackheart was a disappointment and I'd reckon a lot of people who aren't hardcore Ghost Rider fans (which I'm not) wouldn't even know who the villain in this one is supposed to be. If they end up doing a third film, I would like to see them go with Ghost Rider vs Vengeance or some other character similar to that.

All in all, if you go to this film expecting something great, you will be sorely disappointed. If you go into it expecting something at least better than the original, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. I'd give it about a 7/10.

I just got back from watching and wow it was bad. I couldnt believe how bad. I voted worse than first but decent only because I did like the mannerisms and tone of GR while he was on screen. However that was only about 15minutes max outof a 1 1/2hr movie!!! Very lame, I truely am shocked at how bad it was. Those of you who are saying it was better than the first movie are completely out of your minds.......IMO and are living on a different planet than I .
The theatre i say it at was almost empty, i see why. guess word of mouth travels fast.
I suspect the lackofbudget is mostly to blame, howevr regardlessof reason the fact remains .....it sucked

I thought this was pretty bad, I'd give it a very generous 4/10 at best. Too few action scenes and too few scenes where Blaze is GR, a nonsensical and silly plot that goes nowhere and all-around boring with some dumb moments that bog it down. I enjoy the original GR as a guilty pleasure and feel it gets a lot of undeserved hate, but this has been deserving of every bad comment it's getting.

I saw it Saturday night in digital 2D. Not great but definitely better than the 1st one. Definitely darker than the first one. The theater I went to was packed and it seemed like everyone in the theater was liking it, laughed at the funny parts and cheered during the action scenes. I'm giving it a 7/10!

this movie is a little difficult to rate so I think I'll break it into two parts

* when the ghost rider is on screen the movie is GREAT, the action is slick and ghost rider looks AMAZING - 8/10

* when the ghost rider isn't on screen the movie is TERRIBLE, the film drags, the plot is cliche, the acting is blah, the characters are completely uninteresting an I'm BEGGING the movie to return to ghost rider - 2/10

so I guess when you average that out the movie is like a 5/10

when this movie comes out on blu ray I'm torn whether to get the movie or not because I hate getting movies that have fantastic action sequences and little else; transformers, SM3 (as an example) but I really want to watch the ghost rider bits again because they are awesome.

^ The Ghost Rider scenes were quite awesome, I was thoroughly impressed by the action in this film.

I saw the movie last night and what spider-neil said is pretty much what I thought:

I kept reading, before I watched it, that the film was worse than the first. Looking back at the trailers, I thought ''no, that's impossible''.
Now I can say for sure that I thought this movie much better than the first. It really was impossible for me, who thought the first was so souless, to think the new movie, which had such a badass trailer with crazy directors, would be worse.

And that's what the movie is. Badass and crazy. It's a bad movie, but awesome at the same time. It didn't try to be serious and failed, like the first. It tried to be crazy and succeded. For being exactly what it tried to be and I what thought it would be, I give it one more point, making its score a 6/10.

I guess my only complaint was the way they disposed of Blackout, but the final scene was pretty great.

OMG!!! Its being pulled form the big screens as I speak!!!!

there are only 2 showings today here!

far be it for me to tell the film makers how to write a script but in this movie the bits that really work is ghost rider taking down the bad guys so there should have been more of that and less of 'the son of satan' rubbish which has been done like 3,878,987 times before.

a suggestion, they should have made the plot structure like scott pilgrim (taking down the 7 evil exs) and the movie centers around GR taking down (insert number of bad guys) and then close with the final boss. the end. trying to tack on a cliche plot was a hugh mistake and I was completely checked out of this movie when ghost rider wasn't on the screen.

if you look at a movie like SM2, the characters are fleshed out, the plot is engaging and the spidey action is a cherry on top of a very nice cake. contrast with ghost rider where the action is a cheery on top of a turd.

I may get this on blu ray but only because I can fast forwards past the boring bits.
I think jeremy johns was overly harsh on this movie. ghost rider (the character) was great, the animated sections were great, the camera work was excellent and the action kick arse but maybe he was looking at the story and plot structure and if you judge the movie on those terms...then yes, the movie sucks.

I give it 3/10

It was riddled with cliches and plagued by a predictable plot filled with "twists" that anybody could forsee 20 minutes before they're "revealed".
Not to mention the moronic way Ghost Rider moves and supposedly "scares" his victims. He stumbles around like a drunk, one-legged scarecrow and screams his head off in the faces of everyone he sees. That's about 99% of how Ghost Rider fights in this movie.
The sad thing is that I don't know if that were the actual director's vision and direction, or was that just Nicholas Cage being whatever the Hell Nicholas Cage is.

Oh, and let's not forget the stereotypical, culturally-insensitive character portrayed by Idris Elba. I mean have you seen his impersonation of a French stereotype?! I mean GOD!

:)

(The last one was in jest, but seriously Idris Elba was awesome.)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he only fought like that in the first fight scene of the film.

I agree that it was pretty weird, but he really didn't do too much of that for the rest of the movie.

Got around to seeing it today. Hardly anyone in theatre and I can see why. The movie was dreadfully boring. As others have said, the ghost rider himself was pretty good and I did like the personality and darker feel of GR in this but the 97% of the movie that GR was not in was painful to sit through.
I voted much worse than first and that is the truth. The first movie may not have been great but it was good. This movie was horrible, other than the rare appearance of GR and the one point in the "film" where Zarathos name is mentioned......it had absolutely no redeeming qualities.

How about the few times GR got in someones face and ...and ....just looked at them....that was it. It was as though GR wanted to give them the penance stare so bad.....but he just couldn't afford it (budget)

This has killed the Ghost Rider franchise. No one will risk there money on a GR movie again. There will not be another GR movie for a minimum of at least 10 years, this was it.

Shame too because they actually did make a pretty cool GR in this, its just that he wasnt in the movie much at all. The whole movie was about people and monks runnin around with guns and a stupid little kid, yep we and GR got royaly screwed over on this one :csad:

I love, love LOVE how ghost rider acted in this movie. that bit where he was just swaying from side to side while he got his bearings was freaking AWESOME!g

I had fun with this. Nowhere NEAR as bad as people are saying it is. Worse than the first movie? BULL. ****. The first one was done with SO INCOMPETENTLY that it was pathetic, especially the action scenes. This movie had better action, a better (if flawed) story, and Nic Cage did his DAMNEDEST to at least TRY and emote, even if it meant acting a little bit nutty. And I'm GLAD they pretended that nether Carter Slade, Blackheart, or even Roxane from the first movie existed in this version of the story, especially the latter of the three. We were better off without any of em! Overall, MUCH better than the first one, but next time, let Neveldine/Taylor do both the directing and writing, not JUST the directing.

8/10

Agreed. I didn't understand exactly what was happening here. Was he giving them the penance stare? Sucking out their soul? Sometimes he'd just throw them, and other times, he'd burn them. I wasn't sure exactly what was really going on.

He was probably giving them the Penance Stare. N/T confirmed this at NYCC.

seriously, how hard would it be to film each of the bad guys commiting crimes like murders and then doing a fast edit of each crime so when GR looks into their eyes you see fast cuts of that character killing people.
that doesn't require a big budget and it explain to the audience just what **** GR is doing when he is staring them down.

This movie was god awful. Besides Ghost Rider looking cool, there was nothing else good. 1/10
