Got this from Netflix last night and I've gotta say this movie sucked big time. There a lot of independent movies, movies about this subject matter and quirkiness that I like, but this movie just went nowhere. It's fine to make a movie like this, but it needs a payoff and I'm not talking a happy ending. I think the movie would've been so much better if it were done while the girls were still in high school, graduating and moving to the next stage of their life would've been a great payoff, finally escaping this world they didn't like and/or understand. Just needed to rant and I'm sure I'll get flamed for not liking it and hopefully that flaming will make me understand why this is considered a good movie.

It's a good graphic novel. And from what I remember, I liked the movie.

It's a really good movie. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Me too. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

It seems to me that what you didn't like about the movie, ie: the movie seemingly going nowhere, was exactly what the point of the movie was.
The movie was trying to get the point across that many kids ahve dreams of how their life is going to turn out after high school, but then they actually get there it's radically different to what they expected, and most of the time don't achieve anywhere near what they thought, like real life.
Nothing happened in the movie because.. well.. nothing happens in real life usually. lol

The problem is Ennid actively tried to not achieve her "dream". Life could've been what she wanted at the begining of the movie, she just needed to take that step.

That was another of the points. Enid represented the kind of person who thinks everything will stay the same after High School, and isn't ready for the real world in any way, shape or form. She struggles when things begin to change, ie: her best friend attempts for find her way in life, while Enid is left stuck in this limbo.

The synopsis of the movie I said in my last post was tied more to Rebecca, though it was looseley the premise of the movie.
