Well, Harold did come out in a video interview and say that he realizes the fans would hunt and kill everyone involved if they didn't keep the original car. I could see Ray and Winston being uncomfortable with the newbies taking their baby out for joyrides though.

If I recall correctly, Aykroyd had all manner of vehicles converted into Ectos in his "Hellbent" draft. The one I always wished we could have seen was his "Ecto-50", which was apparently a truck based mobile containment unit.

I wonder if we'll get a nod to Ecto-8 from the game.

Just for giggles, I'd have to think about it though. I've heard the HHR suggested before and for some reason it never sat well with me as a good replacement. It doesn't seem big enough. In contrast, a more modern large ambulance lacks the sleekness of the classic Ecto. I saw a few suggestions for a new Ecto on another site, I don't remember the car types though. Let me go double check. In the mean time, for anyone just wants to know what an HHR may look like as an Ecto...

Here's a link with a bunch of people's different car conversions into Ectos.:

Thats cool!

I wouldn't have an issue with a new car. Think of it as a sign of the times; the original ghostbusters are getting old, and a new, young group is coming to replace them. The original Ecto could be on its last legs throughout the movie, and it'd be a constant (funny) reminder to the team that they too are wearing out. There could be a clash of interests between the original group and the new group represented by the aging car, and how much like their refusal to accept their own aging, the group refuses to accept their beloved Ecto is one gas tank fill up away from being a giant paper weight. Eventually by the end of the movie, a new and improved Ecto is revealed, just in (perfect cheese) time for the younger group to show their worth.

yea i wouldnt see a problem saying the classic ecto is so old and falling apart like the original busters, so then we have both the originals and the classic ecto in the film. But then we also have the new guys with their own car to define their gb team.

I always thought it'd be cool that if the film starts with the guys being retired or moved on already, that maybe Ray or Winston has the car kept in pristine condition in their garage (or if one of them is still living in the firehouse like Egon in XGB). Then, when they get the new recruits together, one of them sees the car and is like "OOO, do we get to drive-" and then they get cut off by Winston or Ray saying "No." Then they present them with their own modern car, or give them the money to find their own car or something.

Then, maybe at the end of the film, when the newbies find themselves facing down whatever the big bad guy is and they are between a rock and a hard place, so the old crew comes to the rescue in the classic Ecto-1, tearing up the streets just as well as she ever did.

Then (hopefully by the end of the film) if GB inc. is established, I'd like to see the car on display at GB inc. HQ somewhere, sort of like the little museum section of CONTROL in the "Get Smart" movie.

They actually just fully restored the original car from the first movie to promote the game and travel around to cons and such, and the Ecto-1A is next up for restoration, so I'm not sure they'd want to make them look like crap so soon again.

If I had to put together a tentative list of actors who I think could work as the new GB's, I'd go for something like this:

Paul Rudd
Bill Hader
Michael Cera
Craig Robinson
Zoeey Deschanal (sp?)

But that's really just off the top of my head.

if any one likes the band Hoobstank they have a music video/song cover of the ghostbusters theme:

that is a great cover, sadly this is not

[YT]MnyAUXx40tU[/YT]

yes folks that is what the British public class as talent

the twins are great!!! im glad they are ruining the stupid show - lets face it theres only a few great singers in the comp anyway, they are more entertaining than that terrible welsh brat

I'd rather keep the original Ecto car and then update it. It's pretty much a piece of **** until they re do it, adding some new things.

ECTO-2 FOR THE EPIC WIN!!!

Ecto-2 is to the GBs what the Batpod is to Batman. It even launches out of their car. Start @ 1:20 in the video below:

well it would be interesting if they did have a few ecto cars that served different needs.

I like this.

Ecto Cooler is the worst thing ever. There was no such thing as a 6 pack of Hi-C drink boxes when I was kid, since invariably I would be throwing away at least one Ecto Cooler.

As cheesy and predictable as this is, its what I'd love to see.

Filled with vanilla puddin' power.
