For the top 5 Batman villain performances I would say...

  1. Heath Ledger as The Joker
  2. Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman
  3. Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face
  4. Danny DeVito as Penguin
  5. Christopher Walken as Max Shreck
Then followed by

6. Jack Nicholson as Joker
7. Liam Neeson as Ra's Al Ghul

Not sure whether Hathaway's Catwoman can quite be called a villain, so I'm leaving her out (I did think she was great though).

Really it's great that there are this many wonderful performances. I actually like all of these, though you can probably tell I love Returns a lot. Jack Nicholson is great, but he really is just playing himself (clever casting, worked for the film) - that's why he doesn't rank quite so high for me, as much as I enjoy him.

I don't really consider Hathaway's Catwoman a villain, so her not being on my top 5 is not a slight.

1. Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face
2. Heath Ledger's Joker
3. Tie between Liam Neeson and Tom Hardy for Ra's and Bane
4. Jack Nicholson's Joker
5. Frank Gorshin's Riddler

1)Michael Gough as Alfred. Some of the best scenes in all 4 movies came from him. "I've have no desire to bury more friends...or their sons."

2)Tom Hardy as Bane. The Nolanization of the character turned some people off, but I dug how they focused on the brains and not the brawn.

3)Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon. Finally a Commisioner that did something other than run to the signal whenever trouble started.

4)Jack Nicholson as Joker. First mon-campy live action Bat villain.

5)Morgan &@$%in' Freeman as Lucia's Fox. He's Morgan $&@%in' Freeman.

Might want to read the thread, rather than the title.

Liam Neeson as Ras Al Guhl
Jim Carrey as the Riddler (great performance, not is fault the movie was stupid and character was supposed to be over the top)
Jack Nicholson as the Joker
Aaron Eckhart as Two Face

I would also like to throw in that I think Tommy Lee Jones was right there with Uma Thurman at the bottom of the list. Yes, I even prefer Arnold as Mr. Freeze over both of them.

Jim Carrey made me want to slit my wrists, & Im a fan of his. You've got it backward. Batman Forever was a decent enough idea which was fatally let down by hideous performances from its two villains.
