Well, I looked all around for a GOG topic, but I didn't notice one. And since there's a Steam topic, I figured these guys deserved one as well. I didn't even learn about them until last year, so there might even be some folks that don't know about them yet.

The site: www.gog.com

The sale: All Interplay games 50% off until July 4th. (I think they're each $2.99)

Sale includes the original Fallout games, MDK, the Descent series, the Freespace series, the Earthworm Jim series, Sacrifice, and several others. If you're not familiar with GOG, all of their games are DRM free.

I have a large wishlist of games on GOG, but I really wish Valve would just buy out whoever runs GOG and put their games on Steam. I know it's not that simple, but it would really be convenient if something like that were to happen.

Furthermore, I wish other companies would stop trying to make their own digital platforms. If I'm going to get back into PC gaming, I really don't want my collection spread across seven ****ing clients. You're not going to beat Steam. Cut it out.

The reason steam sits at the top is because it provides great service and value. It actually has very little exclusive content outside of pre-order incentives. Hell, they even let Microsoft push there failed games for xboxlive through it. So yea it seems the best way to compete is to provide better service and value. Fragmenting the ecosystem is not value.
