You obviously haven't seen Cannibal Holocaust. Dead Alive is pretty gross, especially the zombie on zombie action, but its all kinda funny when watching it. CH is just pure disgust.

I still think that Captain Quint's death in Jaws is really cool. The whole scene where he slides down the ship's deck toward the mouth of the shark is really neat. It makes you realize Quint's fate, as he continues to fight even when the shark has him from the waist up.

Well, Dead Alive is a comedy, like Planet Terror, so after a while it makes you laugh rather than gag, and that was the intention. So it may be all about context.

What about the curb scene in American History X? Did that really happen? Never seen the film, but heard about this. Whether the poor guy dies or not, that's still probably the roughest thing I've ever imagined.
