Green Lantern 2

A militaristic contemplative guy doesn't sound like Kyle in blackface at all. Or particularly token for that matter. All you'd have to do is turn up his architecture and make him the last green lantern, and you have all the best parts of Kyle... and still less like Kyle than the last movie Green Lantern.

"For a spell" is probably what you should focus on more. It was a period less than a year. Bruce Wayne also became a drug addict for a few months. But he has far more stories where he's not.

Being the sole Green Lantern is not the only good thing about Kyle. If Green Lantern is to be a singular entity I'd rather Alan Scott and a magical, rather than space magic, Green Lantern.

Not adapting the best storyline because it only lasted a year and a half is just trying to make a bad movie. Also, John's been contemplative since then, we just don't always get to see his thought bubbles.

And no one said being the sole GL was the only good thing about Kyle, simply that it was one of the best, and that giving it to John would not make him Kyle in blackface. Alan Scott's cool, but I'm not sure I'd want to see a film on him, much less him on the Justice League, or a film on him and then a different unrelated guy in the Justice League, or a film about him and no GL on the Justice League to avoid confusion/conflict.

With the new 52 push in comics, I honestly can't see them not using Hal as GL. They've pretty much cemented Hal as THE Green Lantern in comics. I wouldn't mind seeing John, Guy, or Kyle, but I just don't see it happening, regardless if the GL movie was a flop.

Just make a Green Lantern Corps film series. Focus on Hal, John, Guy, and Kyle, as well as the other corps members that are major in the comics like Kilowog, Tomar-Re, Sinestro (if this is pre-Sinestro Corps), Salaak, etc.

It's easier that way. Of course, you need to find a director and writer(s) who can pull off a big group film in space. Make the CGI fantastic and very life-like.

With the costumes...hmmm...you can make normal costumes and add some CGI to them to make them look awesome (TASM).

(I honestly loved Sinestro's look in the GL movie. The only good part in the film, Mark's performance.)

The amount of love Mark's Sinestro gets is excellent! :)

I would love it if Mark Strong was the only one that could return for a reboot. Seriously, the best Sinestro!

If not him, I'd bring in Mads Mikkelsen or Jason Isaacs:

Why are you so against Fillion? He did a better job than Reynolds in a ****ing animated movie, that's saying something.

I didn't even watch Firefly and I still love the idea of Fillion as Hal, he's fancast as Hal because he did a Hal like character so well. So well. I think Fillion is a great choice for Hal, he would own it

I'm against Fillion because he's the typical casting that overzealous fanboys/fangirls tend to make on the internet. He had a cult show that bombed years ago. A movie that flopped hard. So what? He has ZERO star appeal. If his acting made up for it, I'd be willing to overlook his lack of popularity but he's nothing special. He's a dime-a-dozen sci-fi tv actor. Solid at what he does but very bland and not too memorable. Just because he aped Han Solo pretty well on an overrated tv show a decade ago doesn't make him worthy of a big budget blockbuster film.

I totally want Mark Strong to play Sinestro again. They kept Judi Dench for the Bond reboot, they can keep Strong for Sinestro.

Not the imfamous "they kept Judi Dench example." I read the exact same thing in the Superman boards when people were trying to convince themselves that Routh would be cast in a Superman Reboot.

I must have Mark Strong as Sinestro again....forget everybody else!

Your arguement holds no weight. A supporting character in mocap is completely different from being the lead (Especially as the most recognizable hero on the planet). Strong played Sinestro to perfection, and can embody the character in future roles, as an antihero or a tyrant. Why get rid of something that worked the first time and risk inferiority for the sake of change?

Don't blame me for it not making sense. I'm relaying to you that other people used Dench in Bond as an example.

The Dench thing works for a supporting character. I wouldn't be averse to seeing George Clooney or Kevin Spacey being recast within the DCCU though.

Jason Isaacs has been on my shortlist for Lex.

Unfortunately, as others have said, I would highly doubt that a Green Lantern movie will be made without Hal either as the star or as the "main" Green Lantern. Like The Flash, Green Lantern has a lot of easy outs for soft-reboots or "requels" in the vein of The Incredible Hulk, whereby you can casually ignore either the entirity of the preceeding movie, or vaguely reference it, but have a completely new lead (I'd go with Kyle, personally) and rebuild the universe from there. But, yeah, Hal pretty much is Green Lantern now in the comics, so if they did introduce Guy, John, or Kyle I wouldn't be surprised to see them in small, supporting roles, rather than taking over completely.

Personally, I think Warners need to cut their losses and just run with a sequel, but maybe recast Reynolds (will he even come back anyway?) rather than risk a reboot so early. Man of Steel raised the bar for sci-fi action films of this calibre, so Green Lantern really needs to step up. Maybe have the plot involve Sinestro leading a coup of the Corps with his Sinestro Corps and have Hal rally a team to overthrow him in a kind of small-scale Sinestro Corps War storyline (this would help introduce the other Earth-based Green Lanterns, or give more screen time to guys like Kilowog). Personally, though, I'll be surprised if we even get another Green Lantern movie before a Justice League feature - Hal will probably just *appear* in Justice League and be all like "yo, I'm a space cop...and my Dad's dead!"

My personal choice is a soft reboot, where Reynolds plays Hal, goes crazy and they kill him off Emerald Twilight/Dawn style. Kyle and Jon take over the franchise.

 He is already better than Reynolds on the voice acting he has done for Hal alone.

Firefly was cancelled, but that doesn't mean it was a bad show. Its usually the best ones that get cancelled.

Its also overlooking his success with Castle. On its, what, sixth season?

Interesting, wonder why they are moving head with a Green Lantern 2 when the first took almost a $100 million dollar hit.

If I could just go into time and tweak and edit the movie, I would have changed things
only slightly.
Instead of Parallax being this big floaty cloud monster, he would have been this mysterious
thing that attacked Abin Surr's ship causing him to crash.

When Hector Hammond was examining the body he was infected like in the movie, he
goes through everything like in the movie with his father and Carol and his head growing,
up until the end, it would eventually be full on Parallax possessing him, like in the comics
with the yellow armor and sharp teeth.

Imagine if Hector Hammond looked like this with the sharp teeth and armor.

(Hal and Sinestro have more scenes together, to show their friends.)

Instead of Hal (alone) throwing Parallax into the sun Hal (with some help from Sinestro)
transports the Oa power battery to Earth and traps Parallax inside it.

This leads to the possibility and the hinting at Sinestro maybe being corrupted by
Parallax (who is now connected to every ring and every Green Lantern, making
their rings weak to yellow and making each GL susceptible to possession) and turning
evil, or letting himself be corrupted. And becoming a Yellow Lantern for the next movie
like they did.

Diane Nelson...

THR: And how do you contrast that with the disappointing results of Green Lantern?

Nelson: That balance of what matters wasn't quite right on Green Lantern. I know everyone involved with the project wanted it to work as much as every one involved with Man of Steel wanted it to work. In the debate of art versus science, sometimes the mix isn't just right. But we will find some other way to bring that character to the screen.

Count me in as one who enjoyed the first movie. It wasn't a masterpiece, hell it wasn't even great, but I enjoyed it enough that I'd like to see Reynolds and Strong in a sequel. I think there would be a lot of potential for those two the next one.

Wait whuuuuut. So there isn't going to be another one, but they wanna bring him back?
