"Save us Harry Potter you're our only hope"
I think this the biggest screw up ever in regards to an adaption, I can't think of any adapted movie that cost 350-400 mil and became such a disaster financially and critically.Wow... WB it's just a cluster****.
Could this be the biggest screw up WB's ever had with an adaptation? With marketing and quality. It's usually one or the other. But they managed to **** up both.
The only Green Lantern character Reynolds could've done justice is really Guy Gardner.
He ruined Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan is not a snarky smart-alec. He's not an immature man-child.
It felt like the studio tried to sell the whole, "it's not me thing" (but it is) and it failed to really work.
After the tv pilot and having the man behind the rejuvenation of GL onboard to oversee, with this messing being the best they can do, they better stay the hell away from WW.
52.6 million weekend? Wow, that is bad. Even with the 3D boost, lowest grosser of the comic films so far. I think we might not see non-Batman/Superman films from DC for a while![]()
You mean Hangover 2 and Harry Potter 7 box office money
You can not just throw in the towel after one bad thing goes wrong .... Otherwise we get not Nolan Batman films after Batman & Robin
Remember, WB is first and foremost a business entity. They wouldn't be as successful today if they threw money at properties that don't turn a profit. So far it looks like Sucker Punch and GL (their two big budget films so far to be released) have flopped.
I've never seen a movie with so many enemies. The only logical conclusion I can draw is that Marvel fanboys have been waiting for a DC failure after the massive success of TDK, because so many seem to be celebrating this underwhelming opening.
Somehow this is a massive embarassment and a punchline, even if it's numbers are VERY similar to XM:FC? I mean, you guys realize Thor and XM:FC both droppepd from Friday to Saturday right? I guess those had awful WOM too?
And the "budget was more" stuff may impact the likelihood of a sequel, but it has nothing to do with this film being an embarassment.
Many Marvel movie fans are regularly visiting the thread even though they did not like the movie, I mean it is okay that you disliked the movie and are posting your reviews and opinions, but to continue with the hate for the movie on a regular basis day after day, when it is clear that some posters are not happy with the movie, so what is the point ? Is it just to provoke DC fans who happened to enjoy the movie.Seriously? Wow
Seriously? Wow
X-Men: First Class opened in fewer theaters, not in 3D and had little to no merchadising/cross marketing tie-ins
Thor opened in fewer theaters and in May, when schools are still in session and BO take is expected to be lower.
Yes, it does. At least to the studio, talent involved and producers who had a vested interest in the film.
They've just had back to back to back disasters with Watchmen, Jonah Hex and Green Lantern. I'm not sure what you guys expect. They'll still make Batman and Superman and I suspect a Flash movie will still be made but I wouldn't count on anything else.
Sort of, yeah.Watchmen was a disaster ?
Wow.Yes Marvel fans are taking joy over this ... Let them go streal another plot and make money off of it like they did with Superman 2 with Spiderman 2
Budget absolutely has to do with level of embarrassment. The more you spend the more you expect to make.
FC was essentially in the same position as Batman Begins. This is a fresh property and was supposed to be the launch of a new franchise.
I haven't seen anyone really celebrate these numbers, just discuss them. This is a box office thread.
*shrugs*
Maybe that's not the reason, but there is no question that the vitriol and celebration around these parts is unusual. I've never seen so many people excited that a movie was a disapointment.
No, it opened in June, and was part of a massive lucrative franchise well a well known name. The 3D thing is irrelevent.
And since when are movies that open in May not suspected to make as much money regardless? That's ludicrous.
I agree it matters to the studio. But this idea that this movie is some humiliating bomb when it's about three million less than X-Men, which nobody had a bad thing to say about makes no sense.
"Save us Harry Potter you're our only hope"
Why does everything on here turn into a childish DC vs Marvel thing. I think some people are just genuinely disappointed or did not like the movie.I've never seen a movie with so many enemies. The only logical conclusion I can draw is that Marvel fanboys have been waiting for a DC failure after the massive success of TDK, because so many seem to be celebrating this underwhelming opening.

Your skewed sense of reality has completely turned me off from taking anything you say seriously.
Good day
