I don't think so man. Wonder Woman is instant box office poison. It would be humilated at the box office like Catwoman and Electra unless they made it with a small budget. We live in a sexist world. Unless it's Quentin Tarantino making WW, I don't think anybody is going to see WW. I hate to say it but most women action movies are kinda lame. Kill Bill and Alien are anomalies.

It's dead in the water. Cars 2 will damage it, Transformers 3 will kill it.

And in my opinion, despite me wanting more DC movies, this movie fully deserved to bomb. Just like how I thought X3, Spider-Man 3, Transformers 2 and a whole series of other terrible films deserved to bomb.

Well that explains it then doesn't it. You've wanted all these films to fail and probably campaigned hard to see it happen, failing miserably, you've finally found the property you can see your mission through against.

I'm not defending GL as a film, nor am I calling it a success. I haven't even seen it yet, and it's not looking like the film is going to be very successful.

I'm saying the level of animosity and celebration around these parts reeks of bias. Maybe it's not a Marvel thing, maybe it's just a generic smarmy "I love the smell of my own farts" thing. I dunno. I just think it's over the top and silly.

Many of the posters here are regulars on the GL boards. I've seen maybe 3 or 4 Marvel posters come in recent time, but none that have stood out to smear the film in the name of a rival company.

I was one of the many supporters of this movie, and I would be very glad if audiences stuck it to this abomination with their pockets. Mediocrity should not be given a pass, much less allowed a second chance. Missteps I can understand, but this overstepped the boundaries with so much more.

No i'm not going to call Spider-Man 2 original. But it was EXECUTED very well.

And Tony Stark is nothing like Bruce Wayne. Iron Man is nothing like Batman Begins. For one thing, Nolans Bruce Wayne isn't a genius who invents things... for some, strange reason.

The point is, hollywood movies are built on cliches, on formulas. But it's all about the EXECUTION of those cliches and formulas that elevates the material.

Green Lantern took every cliche in the book... and the execution was appaling. That's just how it is. Accept it, move on.

Catwoman isn't even Catwoman Its not Selina Kyle . . Thats just a wtf were they thinking . Why would they not want to tie in Catwoman with Batman their biggest brand is so beyond ridiculous and one of their worst blunders .


Wonder Woman is probably number 3 with dc as far mainstream name recognition . I see no reason why they shouldn't do it .

Batman and Iron Man aren't similar at all. Bruce Wayne sleeps and practices his putting when he is at work. Tony Stark invents things. I suppose you are going to tell us that Tony Stark now is a ripoff of Lucius Fox?

But no seriously, campaigned to see them fail? No, i've called them out for being horrible movies, like this one. But it seems this time the general movie going public haven't bought into Green Lantern.

As a fan of comic books and comic book movies in general, it's a shame that Green Lantern was terrible. And it's a shame that it deserves to bomb. But that's the way it is. Crap movies, in the perfect world, would bomb, so that the movie studios realise people won't put up with mediocrity.

WB does not believe Wonder Woman is a marketable franchise starter, that's why they went with GL first. If they green light a Wonder Woman film today it will have an extremely low budget and cheap screenwriters/director. They will not invest too much in it since they already plan on it being disappointing.

Now, my question is: If WB had so much faith in GL that they spent well over $300 mil on it, what do you think they would do with a Wonder Woman film that they don't believe in?

I'm not calling out everyone who hated the movie. Hell, I might hate it when I get around to seeing to.

There are plenty of people who have been hating on it (like Chewy or Boom) who's opinions are competely respectable.

But there's definitley a crowd of posters who have been showing up and just trolling as hard as they can. It's their right to do so around these parts, so they can go ahead. I just think it's ridiculous.

I hated Wolverine, so you know what? I never went on that board after I first saw it and haven't watched the movie since. I took no delight in it. I was disapointed. Just as I'm disapointed that it's failures have hurt a much stronger film (XMFC)....

Why does everything on here turn into a childish DC vs Marvel thing. I think some people are just genuinely disappointed or did not like the movie.

If anything I have seen just as many Marvel fans who perhaps are not the biggest Green Lantern fans hoping GL was sucess so other DC characters they are more fans of get movies in the future.

I know, a lot of posters think you have to be on one side of the fence, either DC or Marvel, but lots of us like both Marvel and DC, and other comic companies.

Seriously, Green Lantern wasn't good enough for some fans and the movie going public, and I bet the audiences never read any reviews so word of mouth must be bad.

This has nothing to do with Marvel fans coming to the thread, the movie just didn't click with everyone so if someone has an issue with Green Lantern, they have a right to complain.

Yeah, same here. I know I'm new around these here parts but I doubt any fan that talks about this film on this messageboard had a vented interest in this property like I did. Which only amplified my disappointment in the execution and marketing of this property.

Actually Kill Bill and Alien are just examples of people making films inspite of the studio ideal of what it should be.

For example if you dressed WW up in a Kill Bill like life or death film with mythology and blood and swords and tone, have diana on a mission for Hades' head but have him played by a cool but classic actor and called it Wonder Woman. you'd have a hit, I'd bet my brother life on it. It'd probably end up a cultural zeitgeist if you're lucky.

What we will no doubt get instead is a Cheesey outfit, a corny girl gets guy plot, electric blue spandex and stupid poses coming out of a twirling transformation slightly updated for the times, that some out of touch studio heads will think is a brilliant update to the classic show that everyone remembers.

It will fail, hard! And they'll say Superhero movies don't work.
it's like watching a train wreck.

The difference between TDK and most of these other productions, including GL.

I understand that it wasn't Selina Kyle but it still had Halle Berry in it and it was a big movie. I suppose an Anne Hathaway spin-off could work but there is a 90% chance it would suck. No Batman and no Chris Nolan. That's all you really need to know.

Wonder Woman is famous but not in a good way. She is complete camp. You can make Thor, Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern cool. I think there is no hope for a woman hero with a lasso and invisible jet. It would be either utter camp or a complete bore like Electra.

Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman treatment was half 300 and half Superman: The Movie (with Diana and Steve's roles reversed) in tone. WB execs flat out laughed at it. Goes to show they want Sex and the City but with tights
