Green Lantern Movie News!!

Not terrible, could use some work, certainly a lot of the Gl history crammed nicely in there. I still think if they go this way they'll be able to use 7200 GLs considering Apokolips is an entire planet with lseemingly millions of parademons. I think that would be an interesting idea Apokolips versus the Gl but i think the movie should incorporate Fatality and that alien race from GL: Recharge that hated GLs.

I lowered the number of GLs mostly because of the effectscost and how hard it would be to "film" the scene.
Fatality could perhaps be put into to the second one. If Hal wipes out her people/planet somehow as Parallax she could come back for revenge at the end when Kyle has helped Hal free himself. Or she could show up in the third one and ally herself with Darkseid to fight the Corps.

I've only looked through Recharge so I don't have that much knowledge of what happened in it, but do you mean the Spider things?
I don't think they would work very well in a movie, but maybe a cameo fighting part of the corps in the start of the third movie.

Yeah, the Spider Guild wouldn't work too well on film... not that they wouldn't look cool but I just think that giant spiders have been done to death in movies... I mean, we had Shelob in LOTR, the spider pit in King Kong, and also the film 8 Legged Freaks (which was stupid but fun).

Falcon, I think your idea works pretty well... I'm not sure that I'd put Darkseid in a GL movie since he's kind of one of those bad guys that regularly threatens ALL of the DCU, but it could definitely work. And hundreds (or thousands) of GLS vs. the same amount of parademons? Hell, yeah! That would hand the battles in the Star Wars prequels their asses to them.

i figured you lowered the number for cost, but by the third part i would hope it has prolly been a sucessful movie franchise and get a big budget. I just wanna see a full out battle between GLs and w/e enemy. I think it could be done with 7200. You dont have to see the 7200, but dont act like theres only 500. Like one big effects shot like this:

coming from Oa rather than the planet that is a GL :) :) :)

I definitely agree to having a fight scene with all 7200 GLs to close the trilogy... and honestly, while Darkseid tends to be a Superman villain it's pretty obvious that he's not going to fit in the Returns Universe... he's available... (and if it takes all the GLs, it's definitely something that threatens the DC Universe).

Do you know what would be really sweet? If the banished renegade GL Sinestro made an alliance and assembled an army of Manhunter robots!

That would be soooooooooo wicked. Not only do you get two classic Corps villains in one movie, but you get to have a kick ass all out ring-slinging battle in space at the end of the flick with Sinestro's forces against The Corps. I think Sinestro and the Manhunters are a good unholy alliance. I mean after all...the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

yep kerr is a good choice for kyle.. never would have thought of it though, he is gonna need more mean muscle to not look ridiculous in suit

i personally think the first movie should be set around hal and establish the whole GL corps, kilowags, the gaurdians, oa with the villian being sinestro. at the end of the film, sinestro is beat and hal is saying good bye to the love interest when oa send him a message about transporting 3 new recurits for training

then you have a final cameo by kyle, john and guy. setting up the sequal for branching out the cast and a team up

Yeah, Hal Jordan should be the first GL that should get the spotlight. I think that they can even use Ryner, or even Stewart as sort of like spin offs if they want. But, Hal should be the IT of Lanterns, I think.

Btw....Dennis Quaid as Hal.

I'd like to see Mogo be the main lantern for the movie. The most badass lantern everIMO.

Look wise Kerr Smith seems like a legitamite choice. In terms of Physique he can build up no problem. And as far as people questioning if he's cocky/arrogant etc. its called acting I'm sure it aint too hard compared to a to a more challenge method actor required role. Depsite fanboys knowing and expecting how a character should be potrayed, ultimatley its not too hard and if the right Director and scriptwriter come along and share that vision commonly with the studios then its easy to pitch the comic book personality to an actor to translate it. Ultimaltey they are no multi-layers to playing Green Latern (whicever one)

I want to see Hal with Sinestro as his mentor, then we find out that Sinestro has betrayed the Corps for his own personal gain.

I really think that all of the DC superheroes, The Green Latern costume can be literly be made onto the big screen without any changes.

Honestly, whether it be the Hal Jordon, John Stewart or Kyle Rayner's costumes, they all look cool enough where they probably won't look dumb on the screen.

One time, I was going through Alex Ross' "Mythology" and my girlfriend glanced at Hal Jordon. She was like "He looks really cool. Why isn't he used more often?"

My point is that the costume is really timeless, but elegant enough to be accepted in live action.

Sinestro shouldnt be in this film without Hal, theyre rivarly is legend and the movie shouldnt f^ck that ep.

This movie NEEDS Hal Jordan and the classic Abin Sur origin story!!

Kerr Smith = Great Kyle Rayner.
I'd like to see a Lantern movie with Kyle Rayner anyway.

That scene could easily be done without hiring alot of stand-ins. The first way would be with the use of CGI (this was done in SW EPI). The second way (which is the most traditional) is by using mirrors (just think of the hellicopter scene in "Apocalypse Now"). I wouldn't worry about using the size of the GL corps as 7200 at all.

Falcon I really like your trilogy idea, I could see that working out in a big way. the last movie could also be made to fit the current line, near the end of the movie Kyle becomes ION (thanks to some left over Parallax energy from Hal) and Hal picks up the mantle of Lantern of Earth with John.

George Eads as Hal....

If they wanted an older Hal Jordan or better yet Alan Scott. Dennis Quaid...

You know what. If the Kerr Smith rumor is true, he could be playing young Hal Jordan. He tends to resemble Hal more than he does Kyle.

Nathan Fillion was born to play this role. I was told he even mentioned it in an interview somewhere. He is alomst as perfect a casting choice as Bale was for Batman. Make it happen!

No way. Fillion is Question. Caviezel is the spitting image of Jordan...

But I can live with Kerr Smith. He'll look the part behind the mask well.

All I have to say is this: Hugo Weaving as Sinestro.

Am i the only one that defends that comic book movies should be serials? JUst like the comic books themselfs?
The main goal, IMO, about comic book movies is to give life to the characters, meaning to show and make the audience understand their LIFES.
So, the key word is, once again, like a series or a comic book, that your time, don´t try to show all at once, make people think about it, don´t just throw information at them.

With all that in mind, IMO, a Green Lantern trilogy should be ALL about Hal Jordan, with some cameos here and there.
Hell, you can even make it into a quadrilogy/Tetralogy.
