The Green Lantern movie thread

Keyzer:

GL isn't limited to that. They can do many one shot movies with the mythos.

Star Saphire is simply one of them.

You could make Sinestro Corps. into a duology or trilogy, too.

GL's got a great rogues gallery to utilize with plenty of story arcs in the comics to mine. It's the same with Flash.

Az:

I agree.

But only the most successful franchises even get a trilogy. Beyond that, if you're wanting, like, an ongoing series, the list is INCREDIBLY small. James Bond and a handful of others. For Green Lantern, a TRILOGY is highly optimistic, never mind a series that just runs indefinitely.

Most action movies aren't meant to be serial in nature. That's where super-hero comic adaptions are different. They have the mythos build into their premise from the beginning.

Many of GL and Flash rogues could do well in live action.

They have stories just waiting to be told on the big screen which goes far beyond a trilogy.

As long as they're good movies being made of them it doesn't need to end.

Batman and Superman aren't the only franchises which can do that.

James Bond and a handful of others.

Bond is a good example of how a franchise with many great stories and rogues can work in a long running film franchise.

The only difference is that unlike Bond GL, Flash etc come from the comic medium.

For Green Lantern, a TRILOGY is highly optimistic, never mind a series that just runs indefinitely.

If a trilogy is successful there is no reason to stop with it if it has the potential for more movies.

Not making more films of a successful franchise when they have the potential for more installments would be very short sighted IMO.

Movie studios do sequels with far less conceptually potent franchises all the time.

Best way to do a green lantern series imo would be to have every sequel be the trials and tribulations of a different GL
