Last I recall Bruce Timm said they want to include John and Guy but got no plans for Kyle. I can't find the link, but I'm 100% positive.

I guess if they wanna stay true to the source material, its impossible to introduce Kyle without going through Emerald Twilight and chances are they don't want to introduce Emerald Twilight.
