Green Lantern: The Animated Series

Well Green Lanterns stock is pretty much at an all time low because the atrocious movie. They probably should have never made this show to begin with. I'm glad they did though, at least for one season.

I'm a fan of the movie, but both DVD animated films and this series actually play to the strength of the GLC comics better than the live-action film. Yesterday's episode managed to keep the Hal-Carol relationship going in the context of a cosmic conflict. The movie used the Iron Man template too much and it missed opportunities.

Well, it probably served as a test for future series featuring flagship characters like Batman and Superman. It's really too bad since the GL series was extraordinarily good compared to other shows.

It's sad that DC seems to be losing ground with its top characters rather than gaining. GL, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter have little or no buzz in the coming years while Marvel manages to get a Guardians of the Galaxy movie off the ground.

I also agree that it's a shame that this show has to come to an end. If we could get one or two more seasons of this or Young Justice I would be a happy campier lol.

There is so much more that could be done with this show. My kids thought it was very cool to see a normal woman like Carol take on a monster like Atrocitus. I hope the complete series comes out on DVD ASAP.

Next week is going to be a blast with Mr. Greed himself making his on-air debut.:hrt::hrt::hrt:

Oh I didn't see the previews for the next episode. Looking forward to this. It's a shame that action cartoons are being replaced by stupid funny cartoons. Man I miss the 80s/90s.

you have a point there a very good point

I want to think that it was the cost to put on the show vs the ratings. Green Lantern: The Animated Series more than likely cost around $2 million per episode so if you think about it, the entire DC Nation block must have cost a lot more. The thing is that for that $2 million, GLTAS was ranked 21st out of CN's Saturday morning shows (just as a comparison, Star Wars Clone Wars, a similar show was ranked 9th last week). I am sure the studio figured that they might get a better ranking for the same price with a CGI Batman show. Young Justice was ranked higher (11th), but it was for a more mature audience and would compete directly with TT-Go (which probably will be geared for a younger audience). Who really knows why this happened? I certainly hope that the beat writers ask these guys a lot of questions at the upcoming comic book conventions.

Would not make sense to put GL and Young Justice on Boomrang?

I'm confused by your sentence. Are you asking a question or making a declaration?

I think YJ & GL will either end up on Adult Swim, The Hub or Boomerang. I see them ending up on Adult Swim and/or The Hub before Boomerang. There are a lot of DC cartoons on the Hub right now and to add these two to the programming block would make sense.

new green lantern? give it to me! it's mine! all mine!

So we will never get to see Green Lantern fight Evil Star nor a cameo appearance from Sirena, Emperess of Evil?

How come Young Justice was able to get a second season while Green Lantern only gets one season?.

Mattel never released any Toy line for either Young Justice or Green Lantern the animated series, all YJ had is Mc Donalds Happy Meal toys.

I keep hearing that Toys sales were not good, well, they were non existent as there was no Toys line.

I've see toy lines for YJ...and possibly GL, but I know YJ for sure at my Toys R Us

Cartoon Network gave Young Justice a second season, It's unfair how cartoon network never gave Green Lantern a second season:cmad:.

Young Justice got 46 episodes while Green Lantern only got 26:huh:.

Larfleeze...:applaud

I couldn't help but think "My precious" Well we know know how Gollum would act if he had a power ring....wait a second lol.

Anywho, I like how at the end
he couldn't figure out what to give them and was going to give them a fly and then ate it lol . "Safe travels."

- The live action Green Lantern movie flopped badly.
- The show has no real merchandise to speak of.
- What merchandise there has been hasn't sold very well.
- The ratings have been nothing to talk about
- CGI shows are no doubt very expensive to make.

It's not really that hard to figure out why the show hasn't been renewed when you add it all up.

Well, here's what Mattel says on it's Official Twitter in response to the exact same query about absence of toyline for GLTAS. The answer?

...Nothing, as there is No toyline by Mattel for GLTAS.

Then what made Young Justice get a second season?.

The latest episode saw the debut of Orange Lantern Larfleeze as this has the Lord of the Rings feel to it as Hal and Larfleeze's fight is a nod to Frodo and Gollum. Meanwhile, Razer is feeling down about Aya while he installs the male Aya computer from the season premiere into the Interceptor. In an interesting way, we see what Aya and the Anti-Monitors are doing in destroying stars. An okay episode here with not much advancing.
