Green Lantern Theatrical Trailer

"more people"?
You know I’m not talking about the tinny ammount of comic book fans who already know the books, I’m talking about the actuall gazillions more people who will be exposed to this concept through the movie, of which roughly half will be woman and girls. They don’t know or care who Arisia, Laira, Boodika or Katma Tui are, and won’t be asking when they’ll show up in the movie, they don’t even know who those characters are.
What they’ll be asking (if this franchise continues) is when will a HUMAN EARTH WOMAN be recognized by the ring.
The first male and even the second male - fine, if by the third a woman is not recognized it’s straight up slap in the face, if by the fourth and it’s still yet another man it’s not only offensive but just comes off ignorant, considering the concept of how the ring works and the population of the planet.
That by the second, a third and then a fourth time they are saying not one Earth woman has the supposed qualities or abilities to be recognized by the ring. People would laugh at the franchise.

And you probably know this but that you can name 3 female human GLs; one who is not even part of the Corps or actually chosen by the ring, and two that are so obscure most comic book fans haven’t even heard of them, since they only appeared in a couple of issues if that, with one retroactively not even existing, and the other only in a hypothetical future, is completely irrelevant and insignificant to the point, unless they're actually in the movie.

Anyway the idea of four Earth Men chosen in a row may fly here and in the small closed world of comic geekdome who have accepted it, but I guarantee it would be laughed at if recreated in the world of the movie.

Your talking about a mainstream that has yet to vote for a female U.S. President nor will accept a co-ed football or baseball team. I hardly doubt that many will ask that question nor even notice and, like I said before, would be more upset if more regognizable characters like the ones I mentioned before were not in subsequent films.

If they turned Kyle into a Girl it would be dumb on all levels. I would just like to see them follow comic book lore and have him be the one to recieve the "last ring" but it seems that they are deviating a great deal from the comic stories but not the comic mythos.

There. You guys satisfied now?

i get more excited the more footage i see. you get to see a gl, i assume its hal in earth's orbit fighting that big entity. i was hoping to see the gl's flying in space. they always look cool with the green light against the blackness of space. also seeing them fly is awesome too. i was glad to see alot more flying in this trailer.

Yep! Seeing the Sinestro Corp symbol was pretty freakin great actually. It means there will be more to this origin movie than meets the eye.

Probably a
part of Hal's vision where he sees the whole possible possession by Parallax and the symbol Sinestro will ultimately use as a foreshadowing.

EDIT: Spoiler!

If Kyle were turned into a girl then the internet would get about one hundred times funnier.

And sexier.

The Sinestro Corps. logo made me automatically excited to see Arkillo in a further installment.

Brad Dourif for Arkillo's voice.

Hmm...I just had a thought. Does anyone else think that Will Smith would be a solid choice as John Stewart?

I actually think he would be a great choice. He has the charisma and the star power. Him and Reynolds would probably work really well together.

Actually before knowing Ryan was gonna be in The movie, I thought they were gonna use John stewart and that Will Smith would be a good choice for him.

Yeah, I was saying to my friend Will Smith would be a good pick as John Stewart when we went to see Thor.

He'd be a good pick and would definitely get people to go see the film. If they do introduce him in the sequel or something.

I'd go for someone else for John Stewart. Smith would bring a lot of star power though.

Honestly it's time they give an unknown a shot. There's no more than 10 black actors that are always suggested for these roles.

If he was younger, I'd have loved to have seen Denzel Washington play John Stewart.

I wasnt sure about reynolds as hal but that small portion of the trailer where he is floating in front of the sun and has that look of sheer crazed determination on his face sold me instantly. This movie is going to ****ing own.

I am impressed by Ryan Reynolds in the trailers, I don't agree with some posters who say that that are not interested in this movie because of Ryan Reynolds and that he is going to be goofy in this.

I see nothing to complain about his performance.

If Reynolds was an unknown the fans would be singing his praises, based on his delivery of the oath alone.

Has anyone heard Nathan Fillon say the same oath in the coming DC animated movie GL Emrald Knights ?

I liked the RR's version.

I'm a little surprised that some of the folks that were here to badmouth this film are not here now. What happened?
No, I was talking about folks like Saint (but not so much) Flawless Victory, and the VileOne.
I've been almost nothing but positive about this film. You're off your damn rocker.

I agree. This anti Reynolds thing is so old and silly to me.

That's how it goes. You dare voice some kind of concern or mention one thing you don't like and suddenly you're a h4t3r from then on regardless of how much you're actually looking forward to the thing.

I too have been attacked for saying something negative eventhough I'm one of the film's biggest supporters.

And I wasn't even terribly harsh about my opinions either.

I think the Reynolds criticism after the first trailer had to deal with the tone people didn't like, which led them to believe this was going to be Van Wilder in Space.

I mean, "let's take these pants off and fly some planes" made me a little nervous.

Everything since then has been great, IMO.

That's the sad thing about forums like this, you say one thing that's negative, even in a constructive one, the blind faithful turn on you like a pack of wolves.

If you disagree with dnno1 you are a hater of the film. He sees himself as its surrogate. Surely you know this by now.
