sensible depowering from wiseman, characters like superman must be really hard to write unless there is a contrived element to weaken them every fight *cough* kryptonite *cough*

WOW! I am so pleased to see that we, as humans, have evolved so much. I am really happy that I am not living in THOSE times!

I cannot say I wholeheartedly agree with Greg here. Limiting the exaggerations is one thing, but I think they're depowering him too much.

The early days don't mean much. Batman in his early days carried a gun, should we still depict him that way? For more than thirty years now, Spidey has been much stronger than any normal human being. That's who the character has always been, after a short initial "forming" period. It's who the people know and love that should be depicted, not what came out with the first try.

Initially Magneto acted much like the cartoon Venomfan posted. But he's evolved and we've grown since then. Magneto shouldn't be acting that way today. Likewise, Spider-man shouldn't have to struggle to bend a monoplane's flaps.

Regarding the Spider-sense, that was way overused in the early days, why not keep that too?

All I'm saying is, they should be trying to keep Spidey the way he's been known all those years, not finding the lowest common denominator, so that Ox can give him trouble. Besides, if Ox is giving him trouble, how is he going to fight Venom? And what if we have guest appearances down the line (not that I'd like that)? Will they all be depowered, or will Spidey be just puny Parker amongst them?

well said FNspidey, i mentioned in this thread or another that i think its lazy writing to flip the character around instead of keeping him consistent, i got blasted for saying lazy, but really arguing against that is like admitting the writers aren't talented enough to do it if they wanted to. I also don't get why people find it hard to make a fight against weaker foes dramatic if Spidey is way stronger then him, it aint hard, theres so many possibilities, or we could just dumb it down and be inconsistant but at least our brains get to rest then

Y'know, even as depowered as Spidey is in this cartoon, he still kicks WAY-WAY-WAYYYYY more butt than the more mature and supposedly experienced Spidey from the 90's animated series.

So far, the only thing that's really bothered me is the inconsistency of the strength of Spidey's webbing. Sometimes it's strong enough to ensnare a car being flung through the air, and other times, a guy like Ox can break it with minimal effort... uh... wha??

agreed but in the comic every now and then he will tinker with it to make it stronger, stickier or whatever.
