A necessary tool in the war against terrorism or a political liability that must be shut down?

It's just another scandal that shows we can't truly depend on our governments to act in a lawful and ethical way.

i can't see how you could think of it as a necessary tool, we now its not working as a deterent, and we also know that information obtained under torture has a much greater chance of being false.

However compare to the torture tactics of Savak or Iraqs previous regime it dopesn't seem to be that bad at all....well..they haven't dissolved peoples feet in acids as a method of getting them to talk...yet...

even so, just because it is a slightly lesser evil, doesn't make it right.

Guantanamo bay Is a spit in the face to what humanitarians have been fighting for since the first world war. It totally undermines the International Law built up since the second world war and has totally failed to achieve whatever goals it was trying to achieve. We should all be ashamed that we allow our governments to support the continued exsistence of the guantanamo bay facility

No you don't. You know exactly why everyone hates you, you just don't want to do anything about it or even think about it. :o

It should be shut down,it makes the American image even worse.
It only makes our image worse to those who don't like us to begin with(domestic and foriegn) and are looking for reasons to justify those feelings.
Those around the world who understand that although we are not perfect, our motives are just, understand that we are doing what we feel we need to do and understand that any "mistakes" made by our soldiers running the place greatly pale in comparison to the atrocities other countries do in there prison camps.
