Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos

Reviews have been great so far. Seems we are getting a solid single player focused game. Looks like they learned their lesson with The Avengers. Soundtrack is awesome though!

I preordered yesterday glad to see reviews are good for it. I liked the look of it from the first footage they showed.

The reviews are enough for me to warrant buying this. Still not a fan of only being able to play as Star Lord but if it's an actual good time I'll let it slide.

Same, would have loved to play as the others but I ordered a copy today as it sounds a lot of fun and at least the others get in on the action.

I wasn’t feeling this really wasn’t excited about it at first. But I think I’ll be giving it a shot.

Fairly certain a year isn't enough time for them to meaningfully implement any lessons learned from Avengers.

Seeing the footage in these reviews, I think this'll stay a pass with me for the time being - but I'm glad people are actually enjoying it rather than it being a total trainwreck.

I'm loving this game. I think I'm near the end and this is the first game in a long time that I've dreaded finishing. Really recommend giving this a go if you're a fan, fantastic story, really rewarding experience overall. Gameplay I would say is like Uncharted meets Jedi: Fallen Order (with combat from FF7). Some of the best banter/dialogue I've enjoyed in a long while.

It well and truly stands on it's own as a fantastic version of the Guardians. Hope this continues as a franchise!

I'll also add, those worried about not getting to play as other characters, you barely notice it. The team works together so frequently that you genuinely feel like the leader. You string everyone's moves together in combos, use their abilities to solve puzzles and the interaction with each other is non-stop. I honestly think the way they've handled it, and your role as leader, is more rewarding than being able to switch between characters ever would've been. Choices matter, interaction feels meaningful.

Loving hearing the feedback, just awaiting my copy and then hoping to finish either Ghostbusters remastered or SW Battlefront 2 in the meantime to start this at the weekend.

Glad that it seems like this has turned out better than expected.

Yeah I’m liking this a lot. The combat style actually works, the banter is great, the music isn’t what I would usually listen to but works for this game. And aside from the team roster they are definitely telling their own Guardians story and not following after the movies .

Okay, I thought I was near the end but just played for another 3 hours and still haven't finished haha. What a blast. Some real treats in store for Marvel fans if you keep your eyes open.

Man I want an X-Men game that's basically like this, where you play Cyclops leading the X-Men.

Kind of hilarious watching people stream the game, because they have to take off the music.

Denuvo still has me saying "no", but everything I've heard about the game means I probably will check it out if/when Square-Enix eventually drops that. Who would have guessed, a good Marvel game from S-E?

I'm still laughing that Shadow of the Tomb Raider apparently runs much better now after they removed the DRM.

Also the soundtrack is great.

Gameplay is fine, and technical aspects seem sound. The repetitive mobs of bullet sponge enemies are awful. And it takes too long to get to the meat of the narrative. The whole Hellbender detour should have been cut, and the Guardians should have been on the Halas Hope during the attack.

I'd reserve judgement on what should have been cut until you get to the end. So far, I've found so many call backs and clever narrative loops that are tied up and addressed later that I've been quite impressed by it. There's one level in particular that's pretty unexpected but a wonderful surprise.

That's me being as vague as possible to avoid spoilers haha. Also, Re: the combat, it took me a while to realise that every single enemy that feels a bit bullet spongey will have one attack from Star Lord or a team member that just whittles them down instantly. I found over time the strategy and flow of combat became about strategically banking certain team combos for the different enemy troops. Considering how simple is, I've had some late game battles that were incredibly thrilling.

Also, don't save your "Huddle Up" moments. If you use them as soon as you get them, I think it's way more fun.
