Guess who the new writer of runaways is.

Well, the only real implication of Death was on the part of Gunn. Spike, Angel, and Illyria are all nigh-immortal, and thus could have survived such a brawl theoretically.

dragons dude...as in fire...as in vamps don't like that. Also it wasn't just a scrap it was HELL ON EARTH for ****s sake, without the amulet the slayers never would have survived the end of season 7 so how do you expect angel & co to survive the same when they're all ****ed up and only have swords to defend themselves.

Also I wish they hadn't made lindsey go out like such a ***** man, that sucked

If they took out the dragon, the fire aspect is out of the question. Without the fire, vampires are almost impossible to kill unless you stake them, behead them, or expose them to sunlight. It was a dark, rainy night, so no sun, and the staking and beheading requires the opossition to get in a good hit, wheras Spike and Angel can just hack away and will probably kill them. They're also stronger than the average vampire and much better fighters. Illyria is basically an elder god. While not at full power, she's still a master fighter and strong enough to kick major ass all around. I'm just saying that's possible that they survived.

Just because vampires can't be killed without special means doesn't mean that they can't just get hurt normally. Their bones can break, they can bleed and lose limbs, they can even be knocked outright unconscious. Spike and Angel have had plenty of trouble throughout the series just trying to keep ordinary opponents (ie demons and other vampires) from killing them. Against an army of these things, sure they'd last a while, and sure there's a chance they survived, but it's about as opposite as you can get from a good chance without being outright impossible. If we're to believe that Angel or Spike or even Illyria survived, given what we knew about the situation, we'd be believing it purely out of blind faith.

(Barring unforseen wild cards, of course...there is obviously a chance that the four people involved simply found a way to escape the battle, or the Powers for whatever reason decided to intervene, or even Buffy's people could have learned about the situation and decided to come to their rescue. Nothing's outright impossible.)

Man, I wasn't really into Angel but that last episode(and season) was something else.

Of course. I was simply thinking that they lasted fro a while and then were able to escape.
