Guess who the new writer of runaways is.

I have absolutely no idea how to feel about this. On the one hand, Whedon writes young heroes very well. On the other, I'm worried that he's spreading himself too thin.

Theres also news for loners which I can't wait for.

All the news is there!Spidey in black?World War Hulk?

okay,JMS on Thor,ASM,and FF?Give me a break.

Don't like him on thor at all and its werid that people didn't know he was on the title till now. Even though marvel told every one like 5 months ago.

Splendid news. Although, I hope this doesn't mean RUNAWAYS will become a bi-monthly title like AXM, but it is probably doubtful. I sort of foresaw this when Whedon and Vaughan just happened to leave their work practically at the same time. I am a bit bummed that Wells didn't get the gig, however.

Everyone, do the dance of joy!

I just dn't buffy is an ok show so is angel nothing really great i've seen better shows. Is run on x-men yeah don't care for. Toy story best pixar movie so he wins. But putting him on runaways just feels cheap to me. Im sure theres better writers out there and he is only put on it to boost sales.Even though he jumped on the title on his own will. But I still check out the first issue if I don't like it i'll droped the title and replace it with loners for some sweet sweet darkhawk action.I still don't see what makes Joss so great.

I'm more excited about the Spider-Man news.

This is a great way to boost sales. At least he's a good writer. Just shows how much Runaways was favored in the comics in-crowd, that the writer of the (one of the) best selling titles would go to the least selling title.

I like the hulk new myself World war freaking hulk! Oh and Ben better be in that black costume or so help you JQ

Here's another interview with Whedon:

http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=83669

He's gonna add a new character and give some scenery changes and here's his (funny) thoughts on the current kids:

Karolina?

“There's something off about that girl. I hardly ever see her with a nice boy.”

Molly?

“She's gonna do a stint as a baseball-bat-wielding jockey. On Planet Hulk.”

Nico?

“Gonna kill her.”

Chase?

“Chase has no real superpowers and is occasionally not so bright. This makes him awesome like me. He will get lots of money and cars.”

Victor?

“Doom is a totally different book. Do your research, knucklehead.”

Xavin?

“Gonna kill her. Him.... it. Them?”:

And how about the recently deceased Gert, which hit loyal readers hard?

“I cried a single man-tear at the lunch table in the middle of Comic-Con,” declared Whedon. “I wish I were kidding. I curse Brian K Vulture and everything he stands for. If I did have the chance to write that indelible, brilliantly conceived character, I'd kill her.”

Well, it could certainly be worse. I'm not sure how well Whedon'll be able to handle the humor aspects of the book. Well, actually I take that back. What he's done with Wolverine in the current AXM arc is pretty damn funny.

Well, it's obvious that no writer is going to be universally loved, but the reasons that so many do love his stuff:

1. His writing is smart. There's plenty of twists and turn and his stuff is also very, I'll say "consciously aware" of its surroundings and such and does everything it can to blend in perfectly with its surroundings.

2. He injects a lot of human emotion into superhuman surroundings. He doesn't usually go from one extreme to the next, but usually blends them flawlessly together in ways not everyone can see coming.

3. His characterizations are some of the best there ever are, no need to expand on that.

I keep hearing this twist thing everytime so one speaks his name but I always see them as like painfully easy to guess at least some buffy stuff was.

Whedon's humor was tailor made for a book like this. Just gotta look at his tv shows to see that.
