Guns N' Roses: A Thread 15 Years In The Making

that's so sad to hear about the disappointing sales... This album kicks a lot of ass... it's sad that it hasn't performed up...

They really should've tied up with walmart and then sold...

It's stupid that they only sold the album at Best Buy anyway. That's why I haven't gotten the album yet because I don't live near a BB.

Really, what was the rationale behind selling it exclusively at Best Buy?!?

Best Buy gave them A LOT of money for the exclusivity rights. It doesn't matter that it sold poorly, as I'd say just for that they probably got literally millions of dollars, and it's most likely already recovered most, if not all, of it's production costs.

Oh so you guys in the states can only buy it at best buy? Cuz down here in canada it came out the same day in every record store

Yeah it's Best Buy and iTunes exclusive here. I actually dont think they signed an exclusivity thing with iTunes, stuff just goes up there before other online music services. I would assume it'll be on the Zune store and other such things after a while.

HOLY CRAP!

You might not believe this, but Axl Rose was posting on the MYGnR and HTGTH forums under the alias "Dexter"

It happened during the early morning of Friday Dec 12th!

Nevermind, just read the recap thread. I love that the entire thing started as him arguing with a poster on the forum who had been dissing him without knowing who he actually was.

Double Post

But Axl just handed Slash a new one at MyGnR.com

He discusses some of the legal issues surrounding the name Guns N' Roses (most importantly, he claims that the story about him holding the band and fans "hostage" over the name NEVER HAPPENED!)

Here's the thread. He goes on about a lot of the rumors/accusations that have been flung his way over the years right in the first post.

Axl put Slash in his place.

On a lighter notice I got my Dr. Pepper Coupon today. No mention of GNR.

As expected, chinese democracy is bland and boring. Nothing redeemng about it at all and the record buying public obviously agrees...it's sold what....73 copies?

LOL!!!!!!!

Actually the album is great, and despite low sales, has been hailed by most critics. Bostons debut album sold poorly too, and is now considered a classic, as have many albums. Sales do not equal quality, and your opinion is not only just that, an opinion, it's also stupid and biased. Go listen to Velvet Revolver...oh wait, they dont have a singer and got fired by their label.

Finally got around to owning this album, and it is actually quite good. I enjoy all the tracks, although I find Shackler's Revenge to be the weakest, which is funny since that was released early with Rock Band 2. Axl's voice just seems way too overproduced on that track for my liking. I'd have to say my favorite song is There Was a Time

Shackler's is awesome. If anyone likes it thet should def check out some more of Bucketheads solo records.

You're my new favorite poster, because you're 1st post is in this thread.

I agree with the comment about Shackler's Revenge being awesome. The guitar work in it by Buckethead melts my face right off. And the chorus is amazing and catchy as hell...I DON'T BELIEVE THERE'S A REASON, I DOOONNNN'T BELIEVE IIIITTTTT!

Well I'm a NEWGNR, GNRSource kinda guy.
But these past few days i wish i visited CD and MYGNR more often seeing as how "Dexter" came along and answered questions.

This thread immediately drew my attention, I'm actually usually over at mygnr, been following CD for so many years I've lost count.

well it's only been 15 years since it was announced, surely you can count to at least 15.

Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose has slammed Activision, the makers of computer game Guitar Hero, for using his band's songs in the game.

In an open letter to fans, the singer hinted that legal proceedings may occur, saying that "it'll need some sorting".

Rose said that he didn't object to former Guns guitarist Slash being involved in the game, but claimed that the songs "Welcome To The Jungle" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" were being used in an "unauthorised" state.

"Him [Slash] being [in] 'Guitar Hero''s fine but not when Activison is using '…Jungle'… unauthorized," he wrote in the garbled letter.

"I wasn't broadsided," he continued. "I read about it as it moved along but Activision continually denied it right up to the release. That's some low life chicanery on all their parts.

"Yes, Slash was in Guns and on '…Jungle' and he has rights to perform it, but not to be represented in this context in association with Guns. And since they weren't granted the license it'll take some sorting."
