Half Life 2 EPISODE ONE

The Xbox version in poorer in every way, and all of your complaints about Steam are unfounded, therefor...
My complaints about Steam are from 3 years ago that I experienced first hand

Why should I use a program that I'm dissastisfied with?

You can turn off automatic updates and don't need to have steam online when playing the offline games, it's like not hard to do. How did you miss these things 3 years ago.

You haven't really brought up any real reasons, early steam could randomly knock the internet out now THAT'S a legitimate reason.

Why do you care why I don't like a computer program? I gave my reasons why I was dissatisfied with the program, hence I see no reason to use it.

Any proof to back up opinion?
Yes, but the thing is, my "proof", that is, every screenshot of both versions known to exist, requires one to have decent vision. Your asking me this question says you don't quite meet the minimum requirements for my proof. So you'll just have to take "I'm right and you are not" instead.

No, This is just a discussion on an internet message board. Nothing more.

At the end of the day, I don't give a damn about it. The discussions or the board

I don't really, it's just that the reasons you have given aren't, like, true. Hence my confusion. You can disable automatic updates, you don't need to be online for single player and the stuttering is an engine problem, not the fault of steam, though it isn't as bad in Episode One.

It doesn't matter, if you don't want to use steam you don't have to

SO who else here has played the godly Half Life 2 Episode One, I'd be interested in hearing Phasers 'opinion'. :o

If I get this, do I need to reinstall Half Life 2 again, or will sticking this in do all that bollocks for me?

I actually did play this game, and it doesn't suck as much ass as I thought it would. It didn't apply a patch to Half Life 2 to let me skip all the vehicle sequences and the parts where you just fight zombies and manhacks, so I'm still disappointed though.

I never knew about that HF2 patch... hmm maybe I'll try it sometime. Episode One has no vehicle sequences, :cheer:.

You don't need Half Life 2 to play Episode One. You need to reinstall Steam probably, but it's sooooo worth it. You can also turn on cool commentary from the developers as you're playing through the game (but do that one your second play through).

They are true since it happened to me. Since you weren't present in my apartment 3 years ago, when I used Steam, disliked it for the reasons stated, and then unistalled it, you have nothing to stand on

Half Life 2 was overrated and it sucked, I'm sorry, but it's the truth. Half the game was an annoying and boring vehicle sequence, and the other half was spent fighting enemies that I doubt anyone found to be anything but annoying and boring, just like the vehicles. The only fun parts come from fighting the combine towards the end, which is like, 10% of the game, and even then it's sort of underwhelming. I really don't get why this game is seen so highly, or why Half Life 1 even had a legacy for it to ride in the first place. They both suck :down

I agree.

You don't seem to be getting this :( The experiences may have happened to you, but that doesn't mean hat your conclusions are right.

1) I don't like steam automatically updating my games and itself
- You can toggle that off adn choose when you want to update
Therefor: You complaint is invalid because you can choose when to update and do not have to do it automatically

2) I don't like Steam forcing me to be online when I'm playing a single player game
- It doesn't force you to be online at all, you can turn off your internet with the press of a button, no problem, the only time Steam ever requires you to be online is with multiplayer.
Therefor: Your complaint is invalid because you're wrong

(I've tested this by disablign my internet why I'm playing Half Life 2 Episode One, no problem at all)

3) Steam pre-caching itself!
- Steam isn't the reason for the stuttering in Half Life 2, that's a problem with scources streaming ability
Therefor: Your complaint about Steam precahcing is wrong because it doesn't precache. There's no streaming the game from steam or anything of that sort, it simply doesn't exist.

I remember shooting Zenien in the back with the sniper thing, and she flew across the map and landed face down, and I used one of my porn sprays on her corpse and her face ended up on another girl's crotch, I thought it was funny :o

lol, DRT is back once again. Awesomeness.

To sum it up:

- *NEW* Release estimate: Holiday 2006*
- Gravity gun will get new functionality
- Vortigaunts will be more fleshed out
- More details about GMan will be revealed
- New vehicle will be introduced
- You will cover the same amount of locales as in hl2 and the new locales will have a much more realistic feel to them since they are based off real locations
- We'll see the UBER and most difficult physics puzzle to date in episode 2
-
New weapon known as Strider buster
- Strider and Hunter now has a weak spot *could change*
-Big battlefield-esque combat engagements with lots of enemies and allies fighting. Woods provide plenty of cover
- new yet-to-be-announced multiplayer game will ship with episode two...might it be TF2 set during the 7 Hour War?

What the heck was the "Hunter", the big Ant Lion?

Anyways, I'll pass. Too many FPSs coming out this holiday to allow no-hopers like HL2:2.2 to crowd up my time.

This post will be followed by several "well, maybe Valve's ideas were just too big for the technology of the day" posts when the game falls flat and ends up sucking like HL2 did.

Except Episode One rules. It's the best FPS I've ever played.

That's a fluke, even Majesco has made a decent game once or twice before.

WHy because I don't love your beloved Halo 2. :o
