Halo Movie

I'd like to see a Squad-Based Helljumpers game like Clone Troopers.

Im still not sure if this can come out in the summer of 07. They havnt even begun filming yet, and you know it will take atleast 5-6 monthes to put together all the cgi shots their going to need.

I think the latest is 2007. I'm thinking Fall 2006 it will come out. Anyways here's some specualtion of the rlease date from Wikipedia.org: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_3

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, was quoted as saying that Halo 3 was in development alongside Halo 2; however, this quote was recognized as a slip of the tongue and debunked before the release of Halo 2. Bill Gates, Microsoft's chairman, stated in a May2005Time Magazine interview that Halo 3 would be released in the "second wave" of Xbox 360 titles in 2006, as close to the PlayStation 3's launch as possible, to divert sales. "It's perfect," Gates said, "The day Sony launches [the new PlayStation], and they walk right into Halo 3." (Time.com article, registration required; relevant quotes on Gamespot.com). When asked shortly afterwards however, Microsoft senior vice president Robbie Bach was less definite, saying: "We haven't announced anything on what Bungie is doing or where we're going with the future of the 'Halo' franchise... With all respect to Bill, I don't run Bungie's studio, and neither does he. We'll work with the Bungie guys and let people know [when they have something to announce]".
Bungie has not denied that another Halo game is in progress, but they have not officially announced the game. However, the studio is known for being highly secretive and even occasionally misleading regarding development of their games. Bungie has recently made regular references to "our next project" in their website's weekly news updates. Though no official statements have been made regarding what that next game is, most believe it is indeed Halo 3, and that Bungie is just being coy about the project in typical Bungie fashion. Bungie has also recently stated that Sapien and Guerilla, custom-made programming tools used to build Halo and Halo 2, are being worked on.
An article in Game Informer in November 2005 reports that: "Halo developer Bungie is so paranoid about the storyline for Halo 3 leaking out that two different storylines are being worked on so that even the company's employees are in the dark as to the plot of the game."

---

I think on gamespot it was revelaed some time ago, a playable "demo" of the game was ready. So it seems like the game will come out soon. But I guess it would be bteter marketting if Halo 3 was released in 2007 around the time of Halo: The Movie.

They should also make what I like to call HALO: THE ULTIMATE EDITION.

Which has all 3 games in a box set with loads of special fetaurtes and all of thier graphics and movies and capabilities fitted for the 360/ and for Halo 3.

To make the ame the same trough all games.

That is sweet.

LOL, no, there is NO playable demo.. :o

^When do you think it will come out?

Maybe summer of 08? Do you think they can still get Halo out by summer 07? I mean for instance look at Spiderman 3,it began filming in January and they even shot some scenes before that just so they could add all the cgi and stuff.

Would you guys use real costumes or cgi for the aliens?

I'd like to see costume for the covanent, but i think it'd be better to go with CGI just because it'd be really hard to get the costumes to look really good

The special effects for the Covenant can be done using a mixture of practical and digital effects. Large action shots can be done using CGI, but let's say you have the Arbiter giving a speech to bunch of elites on a Covenant dropship on its way to battle, you can use practical effects similar to the work done in Narnia.

Great examples from Narnia that can be used to visualize the practical effects of a Halo movie would be the Minotaur, the Satyr, and the Centaur.

I can see the Prophets being done using Jim Henson type of puppetry.

Cinematography reminiscent of a James Cameron film would be great to capture the scifi elements and tone of a Halo movie. Like most of the high tech/industrial environments like The Library with the Arbiter can be done with dim lighting, and sparse blue lighting to make up for the technology found their.

Scenes on earth like the outside sequences of Zanzabar in Halo 2 could be done similar to the outside sequences of Black Hawk Down. The dry, gritty cinematography from that movie would be perfect for any Zanzabar type sequences found in a Halo movie.

Damn, I'm rumbling again, but I can see a Halo movie easily being done, it could probably cost as much as King Kong to make though.

^Yeah, the CGI would be just like doing a Star Wars movie,so it probably would be summer of 08.

CGI for the aliens.Look at General Grievous from Star Wars, looks pretty good.

I concur, but if they go down our road were probably looking at 08.

i agree with the CGI when neede and costumes other times. and with all the CGI work that will need to be done it will probably be '08. but maybe we'll get lucky and it'll make '07....hey a guy can wish right? HaHa

I hope Guillermo Del Toro directs it...but then again I hope he directs Hellboy 2 as well...oh no...my worst wet nightmare!

Why do all the posts I see reference characters and enemys from Halo 2 when this movie is based on Halo?

For the most part, no one has any sure knowledge of what is going to happen in the Halo movie, so at this point I believe everyone is able to speculate freely until Microsoft or Bungie come out with an official word on the plot of the movie.

From the Plot-outline we can safely say that it's about Halo and not Halo 2.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/

"In a Holy War with a Covenant of Alien Races, Spartan Super Soldier Master Chief and the crew of a battleship known as "The Pillar of Autumn" accidentally crash land on a mysterious ring-world structure known only as "HALO". Now, Master Chief, along with help from The Pillar of Autumn's sentient computer A.I. (Cortana), must unlock the destructive secrets of "HALO" before the Covenant does, or risk the destruction of Earth."

That and the script review makes absolutely no mention of Halo 2 or it's plot anywhere.

True, but all of that is nothing against the word of Microsoft and/or Bungie.

Plus who's to say that characters and settings from Halo 2 won't be making an appearance in a Halo movie?

The script.

Have you read the script, or what's on Latino Review? Plus what Latino Review posted still leaves room for Halo 2 characters and settings. The dream sequence MC has in the beginning could possibly be done in an environment similar to Zanzabar. Plus were the Helljumpers even in Halo 1?

This is all considering that what Latino Review posted was indeed factual.
