Today December 23 is the litte known holiday of HumanLight!
HumanLight was founded in New Jersey in 2001. It is a Humanist Holiday, designed to promote and celebrate Humanist ideas such as creativity, rationality human togetherness and the possibility of joining together to create a better future. In short it is a non religious alternative to the many religious holidays this time of year, or a supplement for people who want to celebrate different things.
While HumanLight itself is a secular holiday, it is open for any one to celebrate, and despite an already crammed calender I hope it continues to grow in popularity as I support its message and sometimes its nice to have a holiday fuled by its relgious connections (no matter how tenuous they may be in modern times) or to nationalistic and patriotic themes.
I really value this site as a platform for people to express their ideas, no matter how mundane the topic. Despite many arguements and such that do go on, I think there is a very good web community amongst these forums and some of the conversations I've had in some of the sections were the most interesting I've ever had. Also the insane amounts of great artwork, both fan art and original work is astounding and I'm glad people have places to share it.
May peace be with you all and may you all have a safe and happy holiday season.
