Has the price dropped any since May? I figured they would drop it some but so far I havnt heard.

It certainly won't. Don't expect it to drop until possibly next Christmas, and even then, the PS3 will be less than it was, but not affordable.

If Sony doesn't drop the price during TGS then a price drop will be out of the question.

They won't. They're already losing too much money per console.

I think that Sony is more afraid of losing their position in the console war. That price tag severely threatens it

If that was the case then surely things would havle turned out differently for the PS3

Agreed.

Sony's primary concern is profit. Their position in the console war is directly related to this, but ultimately, Sony is a company, and they need to make money. Dropping the price could hit the company in a way they could not afford.

& doing what they are doing now has a very damn good chance to do more bad for Sony then good so it is a pretty much loose, loose situation

It won't, because according to Ken Kutaragi, the PS3 is "probably too cheap."

BS.

PS3 has already lost.

PS3 I don't think will end up on top, but there are enough people out there willing to dish out the kind of dough they are asking to keep Sony affloat.:whatever:

I doubt it, the Playstation 3 will win the new gen console war based on name recognition alone. If Sony keeps acting this way though, they will certainly lose to both Nintendo and Microsoft next gen.

I think there are to many nut crackers out there for the PS3 to loose BUT it will not come in first that is for sure

It's lose, not 'loose' :p

As for PS3 not coming in first. That's not for sure at all.

I can't exactly afford the system thats "too cheap" to a guy who makes quadruple my annual income a week, the 360 is looking more affordable all the time though...

Would it be reasonable to say that the price will drop by next summer?

I think that's pitching it too soon. Christmas at the earliest.

ok, thanks guys. Im still picking the PS3 up because its gonna kick ass, but was sorta hoping for Sony to knock off a hundred or so.
