When this first came out it was god awful, nuff said... Has it gotten better or have people learn to live with it?

I stopped watching after the first 10 or so episodes. I heard season 4 was great so I've just watched the season 4 two-part finale "The Joining" and it was great. The characterization was awesome. Alfred and Lucius had an emotional moment on the balcony quietly sipping tea, watching the city burn and waiting for their deaths to come.

If season 5 continues like this then it will be great. Not to mention that in that finale they've just introduced J'onn J'onnz/Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, Hawkman, Flash/Barry Allen, and Green Lantern/Hal Jordan. Superman is supposed to be in the season 5 two-part premiere. Also, Martian Manhunter's official human identity Detective John Jones was great

I'm actually looking foward to season 5.

Season 4 improved the quality of the show tremendously. If season 5 is anything like last season, then I think the show is in good hands.

Yeah, Season 4 was the best season....and the seasons 1-3 were serious crap so yeah it's improving and i'm glad that it is because i like Batman.

...or have we just lowered our standards that much since the DCAU officially retired?? :(

Season 4 revived the series.
And yeah, Prog, standards have dropped tremendously since the DCAU "retired," but remember, The Near Apocalypse of '09 is coming.

The episode of JLU called "Epilogue" with Terry McGinus and Amanda Waller, looking back at the past about why Bats left the League, why Terry left the future League, his troubles with being Batman, and the revelation that Bruce Wayne was Terry's biological father. Terry mentioned "The Near Apocalypse of '09" that involves Ra's Al Ghul. It's something that hopefully Dini/Timm will do in the near future.

the show got much, much better in season 4. It's still not DCAU quality. But it's worth watching now.

I never thought it was god-awful per se. I watched "The Bat in the Belfry" ep today and I gotta say it had a certain charm to it. But the show has undoubtedly gotten better.

I haven't seen every episode of The Batman, but I've seen half of season one, all of season two, most of season three and about half of season four.

I have to admit the show's improved in quality since it first started, but I never thought it was that bad to begin with. It wasn't on a par with Batman The Animated Series that I remember from my youth, but it had a certain charm about it and it's been head and shoulders above anything Marvel has put out in the past couple of years. I've been a fan of comic book animation long enough to know that a show which has nothing going for it doesn't last five seasons.

I think maybe the excellent quality of some of DC's other shows might have spoiled us all a little and we now can't accept something average as still being good.

Its still no where near TAS, but season 4 was watchable, some really good episodes include Artifacts and Strange new world (Not sure if this was season 4, i dont follow the show that much, but i think it was.)

Such relentless optimism. The DCAU is gone.

That goes without saying. No one could **** up Batman THAT much. But that's not enough.

Van Gogh sold one painting. Britney Spears sold millions of albums. George W. Bush won (or came close to winning) two elections while nobody remembers McGovern. Popularity means nothing.

Yes, how silly of us. Yes, it's US who are the *******s here! Not the idiots who cancelled a great show in favor of some old bull****. We should just learn to accept the pap they're putting out now, instead of expecting that characters with an obvious potential for great animation and storytelling live up to that potential, in the hands of capable animators and writers who understand these characters, and will not just turn them into self-parodying imitations.

I think a lot of people had a hard time letting the DCAU go, and turned their anger over it towards THIS show...
Keep on telling yourself that.

I just started watching the show. It's awful. Very, very awful.

I find ppl can't seperate an opinion from fact.

That being Said, IMO this show has improved, but it wasn't THAT bad to begin with. I kinda like this style a little more than the JLU style at times.

The real challenge is in making the story alot more appealing. Season 4 has managed to do so pretty well I must say.

Overall I've enjoyed these new adaptations of Bat friends and foes, Joker however is still awkward looking to me.

I guess this explains why I lost all interest in the show after the very first episodes...Hmmm.

The batman has obviously gotten better...

I feel that the last season of the batman was better than the final season of justice league

far better characterisation, more clever stories and generally (bar one or two eps) much better action as well.

the key message is more robin and future stories, less batgirl...

Once I stopped comparing it to the classic Batman: TAS, then I gave it a chance. It isn't a bad show especially with the appearance of Supes this season.

even though i think it will still do so....I think the rate at which legion is going to improve will be collosal in comparison and i'm actually looking forward to the whole imperiax and superman clone stories more than the random unconnected team up eps of the batman...

i hate to say it but legion's got me really psyched up...

From watching the first half of the season 6 premiere,I'd say no.

Very typical storyline thus far with some really bad dialog.

Did you watch Season 4? What did you think of that? and today started Season 5 not 6 :cwink:

While It will never be as good as the DCAU Batman It is far better than It once was.
