The Dark Knight Have we or they gone too far?

Now I'll forgive the guy for not knowing who I was and treating me as such - most of my work isn't in the Loop (my business usually takes me more often to the South Side, Hyde Park, and spots of the North side). So if he doesn't give me all the respect I deserve - so be it. But the complete lack of respect, and attempts to intimidate, were insulting - even to an average person.

Who is he ?

lol I cant wait until they put the section on the special features TDK DVD titled "pesky chicago fans" lol. I think we've now caused enough drama for Chris and Emma to b**** about us for 30 minutes in a featurette

Someone still needs to dress up as Adam West with the bomb, that'll get on the DVD. Or possibly you'll be arrested for terrorism

Aww give the guy some respect, he's got to be well-to-do. His screenname is Frakking Off! lol

He got what he deserved. These people are trying to create this movie for us, at least have the decency to let them do their job, man. Yes, if you can catch a glimpse, good for you, but don't pull **** like that. It just causes more headaches for the cast and crew and wastes time. I was over there earlier this year when they were shooting the Gotham Bank bus getaway, and a guy asked me to go over to the other side of the street and no photography. I said, "my bad, cool." And left it at that. I don't have a right to be all up in the midst of it.

My god! Someone acting respectful to the crew... got respect back from them?!?!?!?!? :wow:

Now there's that guy's problem.

Here's what I said on this issue on the Chicago filming thread:

"I have a whole lot of respect and appreciation for the people who have been getting these scoops and spy reports for us. But Mike is absolutely right. You can't hold it against these security guards for DOING THEIR JOB.

Look at it this way. You get thrown out, and you're mildly annoyed for a few hours because you didn't get to see sets being put together for a few hours, or maybe a glimpse of one of the big actors.

You DON'T get thrown out, and the security guard's job is at stake. If they've been told by one of the higher-ups in production to get rid of you guys, do you seriously think they should go against orders and let you stay just to be "cool guys"? You gonna show your appreciation to them by paying them the money they lose if their inability to do their job gets them fired?

It's a similar mentality to what I deal with. I'm a University student, and I work part-time at a supermarket to help supplement my income. And we're looked at like major a-holes because we don't let kids buy alcohol. Aw, we're not "nice guys", we won't cut these kids a break and let them have their fun. But cutting them slack would put OUR jobs in jeapordy.

Don't begrudge people for doing what they're told to do. By all means, if somebody makes the decision to take a risk and let you hang around, when they're within their right to ask you to leave, then stay and report back. But show enough respect to these guys to appreciate the ball is in their court when it comes to such a decision, not yours. You have no stake in the matter, they do."

And to add to that:

Really, all you guys complaining about what bastards security are...do you have ANY idea how good you have it?

If Warner Bros wanted to, they could probably seal up the whole area, make it like Fort Knox, and not let anybody anywhere near it. But as it is, they've left it pretty open. People have been able to walk around and look at the sets. We've had various people getting photos with the crew, some of the cast, and even Nolan himself!

And when the fans are given all this, are they grateful? No. They get all that, and then security say "Okay, we've given you all this, you've had a good time, but now could you please move away while we get down to business?" And after being given so much leeway already, are they respectful to their request? No. They respond with "I'm not moving! I have a right to be here! This is public property!" and act all obnoxious. No wonder security have to resort to "intimidation" to make them finally take the hint and leave.

Where's this coming from? Who said that? Far as I know people from here have only complained about the way in which they were asked to leave by heavy handed security, not indignation that they were asked at all. If they need to film something and you're in the way of the shot, then fair dues

Well fair dues. You're asked to leave, be respectful and leave. Odds are if more people were like that, security wouldn't have to be jerks. Even the guy quoted in the original post talked about how he argued with security about his rights to be there, and how it was his right to stand in public property, and blah blah blah. It's totally selfish.

That guys not from here though, so what's the fuss? He probably acted like a jerk, but no-one from here has. (Except typorocks drunk friends), but you can't blame him

My question is, if you are a fan, why would you want to hold up the movie? You think Nolan is up there going, "sure, let them watch, they're my mates." No, he's trying to get his **** down before WB asks what's taking so long and forces him to put nipples on Joker's suit.

can you imagine aron talking to nolan about the scene with oldman and then hr hears in hte background ''aron heeeeeeeeey we are your biggest fans. can you hear me? ''

they are doing a movie.

THANK YOU. Very good point. I made a similar one in the other thread:

"The thing people need to realise is, these security guards aren't telling them to leave because they think it's fun. They're doing it for a reason.

Yeah, you guys are passionate, and we appreciate that. But do you really want to become an obstacle to the production of the film you have so much passion for? You do realise that the more trouble and delay you cause for security guards, the more it holds back filming and progress?"

Who are you lecturing? No-one from here has the attitude that it's their intrinsic right to gawk at the set from a few feet away, they're just complaining about excessive bullying at another building

Oh boo-hoo, bullying. I'm sure if the crew went up there, all apologetic, and said "please", that would make them leave, right? Nope. They'd just get a "no we're staying" in response.

Why am I lecturing? Why are you so determined to make people out to be a-holes just for doing their jobs? I can think of reasons FOR them getting rid of loiterers:

- They've been told to, and if that's their job for the summer, it makes sense to follow orders.
- If Nolan doesn't want an audience for filming, their continued presence holds up production
- Having them there leads to an increased risk in set pics/spy reports. The "surprise" of Scarecrow is already out the bag.

Now, what are the reasons AGAINST them getting rid of the loiterers? Because they're having fun? The arguments on the side of the crew are about the interests of the film, while the arguments on the side of the "spies" are entirely self-serving. Forgive me for siding with the film.

You're making a false comparison from your comfy chair in Scotland while people that visit the set say a subset of the security use excessive methods, whereas some are polite. No-one here wants to hold up filming for their own selfishness, direct your indignation at the ahole in the quoted article that probably deserves a slap

Keyser Soze are you trying to get a bl*w j*b from Nolan or something? lol. You get the crew brown nosing award of the year

Read my posts, and you'll see that I expressed respect and gratitude to the people who have visited the set and written up reports for us. And my "indignation" has been directed to the people who have gotten into fights with security, yes, like the "a-hole in the quoted article."

If you avoided confrontation with the crew, or left if/when you were told, you're fine with me.

As for the "from your comfy chair in Scotland" remark, dude, don't get melodramatic. It's not like you're fighting in Vietnam or something. It's fans on a movie set. And I'm merely responding to the excessive "indignation" directed at security earlier in this thread and others.

Hey, why would I be the one trying to get a BJ from him? I'm not the one following him around in Chicago, trying to crawl up his ass at every turn...:cwink:
