HBO's Boardwalk Empire - Part 1

I think I'm in the minority when I say I didn't like the ending. It's fitting but I didn't feel like it was earned. We never saw the kid show any indication that he was in contact with his grandma or her in contact with him. Like at the end of the Sixth Sense was earned because throughout they gave you the clues if you payed attention. The rest of the episdoe was great, seeing Luciano rise and Capone fall were nice touches.

Explaining how Tommy made it from Richard's sister's home in Wisconsin back to Atlantic City and finding out where Gillian was would have taken too much time. They only had 8 episodes. It wasn't really all that necessary. That stuff costs money and HBO didn't want to invest any more into the show.

The overall opinion is the time jump n short season hurt the show overall. There's positive and negatives but part of me cant help but think they did the time jump just to put[BLACKOUT] tommy in there[/BLACKOUT].

I'm glad Eli made it out alive but I feel his story is far from over. I still feel bad though for the actor portraying rothstein because we never got closure on him.
We got closure on Rothstein. It was just very subtle.

I thought it was a fitting end to the show even though I wanted more bang for my buck so to speak. :o

I had a feeling it was him all along but they pulled it off pretty good. Sad to see the show end, it's one of the first few shows I picked up and ran with it back when many really well made shows were on the rise. I hope one day I can rewatch the whole series and see how better it flows together.

So....what was up with that whole weird sequence where Nucky went into that dark tent? Seriously, can someone tell me what the point of that was, was it even really happening or some sort of hallucination?

It was a mechanical television, which was the grandaddy of the modern television, they really had those as exhibits in the 1930's.

If it was meant to be symbolic, I think it was meant to show that the future might be beyond Nucky's understanding.

I'm sad we never got one more run with the BJM theme song, it always rocks me into the BE mood.

I thought it was a good move to go with a cold opening. The end credits made it feel more a bow to the end of the series.

I think it was just meant to be a bit of foreshadowing, him getting a glimpse of a future he will never see. It could also have been a bit of a meta fiction thing: He wanted to leave something behind, so in a way he does, with this fictional account of his life played out on television... maybe, lol.

Was trying to remember if young Tommy was given a telescope or something to stargaze with? Seem to recall Richard with him talking about the stars (twinkle twinkle little star was the song), but I might have that wrong

A bit of an odd scene whatever the reason.

Even that kid looks like the older version of the younger one. This casting director was amazing...

Also, that face Tommy made when he had torn up the money Nucky gave him was straight up Jimmy face, it was almost creepy how perfect it was.

Stephen Graham was pretty damn great during his time as Capone. I can't wait to see what show he ends up on next.

He's been in a few movies and he's always good. :) I'll be interested to see him land on another show.

Stephan Graham is such an underrated actor. hope to see more of him either on television or film. hell, i hope Disney brings him back for Jack's crew in the new Pirates movie.

Yeah, his stuff in This Is England (film/series) is outstanding.

If you guys like Boardwalk Empire you show check out period gangster show by BBC/Netflix Peak Blinders.

Great cast (Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy & Sam Neill), hight production values and great storytelling. Season two which just ended in the UK is particularity good.

I think remember reading that his character is one of those returning for the next pirates film.

He is fantastic in the This Is England Movie/Tv Show

Finaly watched the last 4 episodes, loved when Van Alden finaly snaped and beat Al Capone up, got realy shocked at when he was killed, even though it was so obvious. I remember seeing some people around here discussing the possibility of a Lucciano/ Capone spin-off, right before the final season started, i myself would love to see that happen, could cover many of the things that happened between seasons 4 and 5 but weren't explored, and would be a sort of "rebrand" to the show, pretty much bringing old fans back, but also being advertised as something new viewers can easily get into.

Probably will need to rewatch the whole show, but right now i rank the Seasons as being: 2 > 3 > 5 > 1 > 4

I barely remember Seasons 1 and 4, they also had the most forgetable main villains for me, Season 3 was a great ride, but i think 2 was better put together.

I disagree, I'd rank it as 3 > 5 > 4 > 1 > 2, but each to their own, I guess!!!

Just got into this show recently. I'm only on the 5th episode but it's pretty damn good so far.
