HBO's Boardwalk Empire

Those are the two most likely options, but you never know with HBO shows. Pretty much anything could happen...I mean, who would have predicted where Van Alden is now?

I still think they wanted to keep Van Alden but still weren't sure what to do with him.

Doesn't Van Alden's character join up with Al Capone, in history, and have one of the biggest distilleries or whatever?

No, van alden is very much a made up character. The show is pretty good with history when it comes to which real characters live and die though. Just in the last episode the jess smith death went down in real life pretty much like it was shown on the show.

Which is why it's gonna suck when [BLACKOUT]Al rothstein dies[/BLACKOUT] in 1928.

I thought someone said Van Alden's character is based off a real person? A poilceman that switched sides because he had legal trouble?

Its setting up for a sad ending to Harrow...They need him on this show and if they give his happy ending then they will need to bring a new wing man for Nucky

I could be wrong but as far as the preview shows, Gyp and his crew take over the brothel, this could lead to tensions between Gyp and Gilian, Gilian could use Richard and ask him to ge rid of him cause he's a danger for all of us. Or in some other way, Richard's new girlfried gets killed by Gyp or his crew..

i would be so happy if im wrong..

If the series last that long.

I wish this series would last to 1929 where the organizing of crime in america happened where FACTUALLY every mobsters met in Atlantic City and was hosted by Nucky himself all the way to 1931 where Luciano and Lansky finally became the founders of the American Mafia and the National Crime Syndicate.

This series is only in 1923 so unless they time jump on next seasons, we will never get to those important years.

Yea I really hope we get a pretty significant time jump. I don't wanna see that 1928 death though. :(

I for one do not want this who to end anytime soon. As long as they ahve real history to go by and great actors to use, why would it end before those golden moments? :)

We've already seen a time jump of over two years right since Jimmy died?

The thing that tends to kill shows like this isn't a lack of ratings, it's the production costs. As long as Boardwalk Empire's budget man can keep things under control and the writers want to keep writing, we'll keep getting more awesome from the 1920's.

Prohibition didn't end until 1933 so it's possible that could be used as the ending, which would require (as you guys have said) multiple time-jumps. I'm a big fan of time-jumps, so hopefully that'll be the case.

It was a year and a half from the end of s2 to s3. I think the show would want to get to at least 1929 to see how the stock market crash affects things.

You also have the st. valentines day massacre in 1929 and capone's arrest in 1931. Two huge events tied to one of the show's main characters. I'd actually like to see the show shift over to capone more when his power and profile starts to rise in the mid 20's.

That time jump has to be right - I forgot that Van Alden has TWO kids now. Had to have some time for that. :)

I hope they show that event.

Anyone know what year Lucky moves back to Italy?

I guess he'll be the last man standing in this TV series. Or at the least, one of the last.

Luciano however was in jail from 1936-1946 then he got deported to Italy.

After the havana meeting in 1947 where he took back his boss of bosses position, he was permanently deported to Italy and lost most of his power in the American mob.

So a great series finale for this series should end in 1931 where Luciano became the founding father of organized crime in America.

Richard is about to go Rambo on that brothel.

This was the best episode of the season and perhaps the most fun episode of the whole show! So many wonderful moments.

Yeah, this almost makes up for that hospital subplot.

Al Capone to the rescue.
