HBO's Boardwalk Empire

Talk about overkill though. I figured Rosetti would do a drive by with a tommy gun or something. He blew up the entire joint Game of Thrones style.

Maybe he just wanted to be thorough. :cwink: It's funny that that obnoxious twit who stopped Nucky, Luciano and Rothstein in reality ended up saving their lives.

I was expecting him to walk in and them have a throwdown of words or a drive by. When it did those cuts between billy and nucky i was like wtf is going on then BOOM! My jaw just dropped.

I thought maybe Billie would get shot or something, I hadn't expected the whole building to go up like that.

Yeah, I was thinking about how ironic that was.

You have to appreciate how corrupt this era was. Not an honest man in the government. They're taking liberties of course, but they're not far off, at all.

That's exactly what I was expecting. The way Nucky was looking at her, the way his face dropped, the slow motion. I thought Billie would suddenly burst with red, a great contrast on her new blonde hair. But geez, that wasn't even a remotely small explosion, the whole freakin' boardwalk went up!

Van Alden is as always enormously entertaining. Pretty much any scene with him or Harrow immediately has my interest. The guy Van Alden attacked didn't deserve what he got, but it was still really cool to see how, once he snapped, the entire office was terrified of Van Alden. I really liked that they all cowered away into that one room, and his boss was standing their shakily wielding a letter opener.

I have a feeling Margaret and Owen are going to get by someone pretty soon. They're getting very relaxed with their affair, doing it in the car with windows on all sides. Sure they were miles from anywhere, but who knows, a farmer might wander by.

All in all a pretty spectacular episode, due mostly to the ending. About 2/3rds of the way through I was thinking that nothing major had happened, but I guess they were saving up all the wow-factor for the final scene. I can't wait to see the repercussions and (hopefully) Nucky's rage unleashed.

Billie and [BLACKOUT]t-dog[/BLACKOUT]. The one episode each where their characters showed any growth and of course they had to die.

Van Alden going insane was a thing of beauty too.

That's rather amateurish writing, ain't it? But eh, what are you gonna do?

We saw a million dollar explosion, so I won't complain too much. I figured she was going to die. Did not see Rosetti blowing up a chunk of boardwalk coming though.

Am I the only one intrigued by michael shannon's ability to snap or crack a smile and love every minute of it?

Shannon's half smile after causing chaos on the office was fantastic.

As to Billie and [BLACKOUT]T-Dog[/BLACKOUT], Billie had more character development in her first two episodes than [BLACKOUT]Token-Dog[/BLACKOUT] had in two seasons.

*finally figured out how to do the 'blackout' thing around text :D

could watch it all day, who hasnt had a guy like that at your job or in your life who you just wanted to go off on.

They are lucky he didn't have a gun, he would have taken them all out.

Van Alden had the best moment of the show this week, hands down. It was great to see him let loose again. Shannon is fantastic (hope he brings a great performance to Zod)

I agree, didn't really care about Kent that much, but I was shocked that (I don't think it's a big mystery) Gyp blew up the whole damn joint. The man is absolutely nuts. It will be interesting to see Nucky and Rothstein's response. I'm hoping Harrow gets to take out Mr. Rosetti.

Nah the iron method was much more fulfilling and appropriate i think.

Van Alden is the original Iron Man.

Also really when this face is staring at you holding a hot iron is it really smart to be cracking jokes at his expense?

Yeah, you'd think they would have caught on faster than they did, lol. He looked ready to explode kinda early on.

Eh, I think he knew exactly what was going on, but he was just trying to get through it. At first. He always looks constipated when he isn't killing or assaulting someone haha.

I love the way he lifted it and said "It's..an..iron." with the expression on his face. That's gotta get made into a meme or something.

The show is still fantastic, but I really do miss Jimmy and it looks like he was in fact killed off early because working with Pitt was difficult.

There was initially talk that getting rid of Jimmy was always part of the plan, and that it was necessary to focus more on characters like Capone. That's all well and good, but characters like Capone and Chalky have less screen time this season, not more.

I'd maintain that Nucky was originally going to kill Margaret for his "first kill" at the end of the second season, and that the last few episodes we got wrapping up Jimmy's story arc was originally mapped out for the end of the show.

I still like it, but Jimmy was the real heart and soul of this show and it lacks a character you can really be behind anymore.
