He Got Away With It!!!!!! (Texas Shooting)

Or they were turned around busy robbing his neighbor? And he didn't want to be like "Excuse me, could you two turn around so I can shoot you... that is if you don't have any guns yourselves and would take the time I wait for you to turn around and shoot me."

:whatever:
Are you an idiot? Seriously, dont answer that... the article said they had already crawled out of the neighbours house and were on the man's lawn, backs to the shooter, which means they were fleeing. The man even said he was going to kill them. This is why I'm against people having guns. :down He had a gun to them, he could've been like "Don't move or I'll shoot your goddam brains out." and wait until the Police arrive. If they did move, shoot with a miss, and if they still do it, shoot one in the leg so he can't run away. But why shoot to kill when no one's life is in danger?

If he had shot, say in the air, as they fled, they would have kept running (probably faster). Shooting them in the leg could result in death if it hits an artery. He also had a shotgun which don't have pinpoint accuracy. We don't know how far he was from them or what type of shot he had.

Also, from the first article:
"Instead, Horn was a frightened retiree who tried to defend his neighbor's property and when the two men came onto his yard and threatened him, Horn defended himself"

This is why I'm against people having guns.

Are you an idiot? Just let criminals have guns and let people be defenseless against them?

Also, these two guys were criminals. Criminals. Not innocent people that he just went out and shot.

But if you read the whole thing, it's explained in multiple ways.

By people that includes Criminals genius. I don't think ANYONE should have a gun. Criminals are people to.

You asked if I was an idiot and your plan on gun control is for people not to own guns... what reality warping power do you have to magically poof away guns?

I didn't say "Hey everyone let's all get rid of everyone's guns!" All I said was I was against people owning guns and that includes criminals.

Yes... let's make it illegal. That way no one will ever have a gun. Especially criminals... that lot always follows the rules.

Wow... you are an idiot aren't you? All I said was I'm against people having guns. If criminals didn't have guns, we wouldn't need guns. I never said "let's make it illegal" you're just trying to start a fight. It's my OPINION not my PLAN to change the future, got that? If you want to continue this discussion this badly, feel free to do so through PMs.

Here in Georgia, if it had been my case, going by our laws, we'd have charged him with 1st degree murder. Lethal force is not allowed in defense of property here.

Texas' statute for murder is obviously different. If they allow you to use lethal force in defense of property, then hell, go for it. If anyone is gonna break into someone else's home, they had better be prepared to deal with whatever comes be it a prison sentence or a nap in a pine box.

What strikes me as "odd" is that this guy seemed so hell bent on shooting someone. A "cowboy" mentality if you will. The mentality he displayed listening to the 911 call, a firearm to him is just a penis extension and he was looking for any reason to show it off. The guys who broke in and got shot, **** em, but this guy deserves no praise for his mentality. He is actually quite disturbing to me.

I'm not surprised he got away with it. It's Texas after all.

He was on the phone with the 911 Operator for 8 minutes, that's a long time to process what you wanted to do. He was set on shooting someone that night.

I know Texas has the Frontier Law, which expands the meaning of self defense...as opposed to shooting someone in your home, I believe the Frontier Law expands to your property as well....

Was he in the wrong? probably....but I won't damn the man for attempting to protect his neighbors and property and a misguided attempt to send a message.

I believe in the right to bear arms, I don't think you should be able to buy an ak-47 to go hunting, but I believe people should be allowed to defend themselves from those who would do them harm

Yeah but he didn't even know his neighbor that's why he waited 8 minutes. He was quoted as saying if it was his other neighbor which he knew, he'd already be over there.

Reguardless of the fact that these two guy were criminals, this guy shot them in the back. I'm not sure how his life was in danger or anything. It wasn't even his sh** that they were stealing. Should he go to jail for murder... meeeeeh. He should definitely get a slap on the wrist or something.

He called 911 when he saw them enter the house. He wasn't set on shooting someone. He wasn't sitting there with his gun looking for an excuse to shoot someone.

He told Dispatch he had a shotgun and was going to shoot them, and dispatch told him to sit tight and wait for police and he went out anyways.

Ok...but let's not make it sound like everyone that owns a gun is looking for an excuse to shoot someone....I own a firearm, but it's in my closet and it's in case someone tries to break into my house...I don't want to use it, but I will if necessary

Well dispatch is in a nice secure room miles away from where the evil me are. It's very easy to be calm and composed in that situation.

Your home though, right?

I mean yeah if you see someone getting raped in your neighbor's house, but if you see them coming out with a tv and you know they weren't home, would you confront them?

Me, personally? **** they can take whatever they want. But people are different and react differently so your point is utterly irrelevant.

My point is relevant up the ass. :cmad: And I was asking BlackLantern making your answer irrelevant. :o

Not sure....Id definitely call 911 and let them know that someone is in a house that isn't theirs and taking a TV that doesn't belong to them....

I would personally thank the guy for stopping burglars no matter how he dealt with them. Here is a funny story. One of my professors who is really old had a friend who kept getting robbed. So, he set up a shotgun to where when they opened the front door...it would kill them. And he got a guy! My uncle's family farm kept getting robbed when he was young. So one day, he caught/tranquilized a bobcat and put it in a large suitcase with some water. Later that day, a few illegals that had been stealing went into their barn when they weren't home (my uncle was home). Low and behold they loaded up stuff and the big suit case. He followed them with binoculars to where they lived. They opened up the suitcase and out popped mr. old angry bobcat. Anyways, after a few good maulings he got their stuff back and they never came back.
