He-man Sequel Series (Netflix)

Watched the first two episodes! Really enjoying it so far!

That was a tough cliffhanger, but I think the first half was promising. The Preternia stuff was actually my favorite and I would've liked to have seen more of it.

I'm withholding my rating until we see the rest of Season 1. I think it was a mistake to split the season apart like this. On one hand, you have a crazy cliffhanger. On the other, I feel like we're getting an incomplete picture of the story for this season. Reason being is because Season 1 feels more like an animated movie than an episodic series.

I stopped my Netflix subscription a year ago.
Other than Kimmy Schmidt and this show, is splitting a season of a show into halves a common occurrence now on Netflix?

It's Netflix way of getting around weekly episodes while staying with their binge method. "Here's 5 episodes to binge! Now just 4 months still the other 5 come out and we'll call it Pt2."

It's what they did with Sabrina. Each season broken up into 2 parts.

I liked the first episode, but I thought this was just alright overall. I really liked the animation and the voice cast, but this felt way too incomplete to really be judged properly IMO.

I'll definitely be watching the second half though because that cliffhanger got me pretty excited to see what happens next, but I wasn't a fan of the struture of this first half.

It took some time for me to finally warm up to Teela's character because I didn't think she was all that likable at first, but I did like her a bit more towards the end.

Also, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn is like the most perfect casting ever and if they do ever get around to making a live action movie she should definitely stay in the role.

agreed she was fantastic I would love to see Lena do more voice work she is SO good

Episodes 1 and 5 were great. Episodes 2-4 were a bit of a snooze. But that cliffhanger ending will get me to come back.

There is something about Powerhouse animation that continues to feel off to me. There is a stuttering in their action that continues to be very noticeable to me. Most of the voice cast was fine, but I really did not like Joker Skeletor. I get a bit why the tone they when with Skeletor, but they should have done something to make it more distinctive. Its not even just Hamills voice, the lines and delivery and everything came right out of BTAS.

Adra is cool, though. SMG grew on me as Teela. Headey is great.

And I hope sexist tears are healthy, because I am going to be drinking in a lot this weekend.

I think Powerhouse does some good work, but you can tell in certain sequences where corners are being cut.

I felt that way about Castlevania too.

Yeah the Skelator scenes took me out of the show a bit because all I was thinking about was Joker. I kind of wish they went with an unknown voice cast. I feel like Hamil, Headey, and SMG, have such distinctive voices that I could only hear Joker, Cersei, and Buffy on screen. I even recognized Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man.

My theory is that the second half will focus more on Adam. I feel like had they just released the whole season at once they probably could've shut up or curb a lot of these man-baby review bombers.

I'm not so sure about that.

It honestly seems to have been not so subtly hinting that Teela is going to be the next champion of the Sword of Power

She might. But she also might be revealed as the next Sorceress rather than carry the sword. And that's how she becomes the next champion. Vuduk, who looks like 200x Sorceress was one of the champions in the Preternia afterlife.

Much better than I expected. Props to KS. Looking forward to season 2.

I liked this BS "first half of a season" thing well enough (making it half the story is just completely frustrating), but it not what they advertised. So yes, sexist will cry and that will be funny, but a lot like with certain movies that have come out over the last 5 years, it would have been nice for them to be a bit more honest with their intentions.

They emphasized He-Man everywhere, and it is not a He-Man show at all so far.

It is named "Masters of the Universe" afterall.

He-Man and Masters of the Universe are pretty interchangeable, and again, they emphasized He-Man. It's was misdirection. The two trailers, especially the teaser that got everyone hyped, was all about the big man.

This is the poster for grayskull's sake:
